I've just started trying to make our family green. (still trying to get DH on board so I'm doing baby steps). My favorite way to be green right now is CDing. I love them!

Re: Your Favorite Way to be Green

We've got a long way to go toward being really green, but so far we:

*recycle
*cloth diapers and wipes (mostly)
*compost
*hang dry laundry (always in the warm months, sometimes in winter)
*use mama cloth (mostly)
*garden organically
*use reusable bags for groceries (I need to remember to take them to other stores as well!) and for lunches
*are gradually changing to energy-saving light bulbs
*clean mostly with vinegar, peroxide, and Dr. Bronner's

Eventually I'd like to get a hybrid car, grow more of our food and buy more locally grown foods, and find a solution so that we don't have to run the water for 2-3 minutes to get it hot.

Re: Your Favorite Way to be Green

We are moving in 3 weeks and are going to be using our bicycles MUCH more since we will be within biking distance of EVERYTHING so I know I will be loving that!

Also going to start composting after we move

Reusable bags
Cloth diapers- duh
Cloth napkins, paper towels
Mama Cloth
Vinegar and water cleaners!
Hanging laundry in the summer
Cooking more from scratch and using less "prepackaged" anything.
Growing our own fruits and veggies (as many as I can in Ohio anyway!)

My favorite way to be green is to shop at home first, then buy used. This is my favorite green thing because it allows me to be creative.

Re: Your Favorite Way to be Green

I LOVE being green!!

-Diva cup (um, hello, have I mentioned my love for this lately?!)
-laundry lines (instead of dryer), for most of our laundry
-recycle
-reusable bags (chico bags are my favorite)
-replacing lightbulbs to energy effecient light bulbs (they last FOREVER)
-eating vegetarian (not my whole family is), but eating veg at least once a week (for the meat eaters) makes a huge difference!!
-being mindful of gas consumption, and driving time
-limiting water useage when brushing teeth, washing faces, etc.
-having a garden (I miss mine, now that summer is over!!)
-composting
-using self-made natural cleaners
-only running the dishwasher, washing machine, etc. when I have a FULL load.
-Checking and keeping good tire pressure in our cars (this makes a difference!)

There's probably a million more that we do, but they aren't coming to me right now! I'm a huge green advocate, and I LOVE to find ways to make changes.

Re: Your Favorite Way to be Green

I love being green! I'm not there fully, but I'm working on it!

We CD.
Line-dry our clothes.
Recycle.
We don't throw out food, we have pigs, so we feed leftovers to them, I guess composting in a way!
Buy used.
Eat organic as much as possible.
Just moved, but will be planting a garden come spring.
Spend as much time at home so we aren't driving around a ton.
Use natural cleaning products (i.e. vinegar, baking soda, borax, homemade detergent)
Use energy saving bulbs
Use rechargable batteries
Hook major things up to a power strip and turn them off when not in use (i.e. computer & TV)

Re: Your Favorite Way to be Green

I don't really consider myself or family super green, but after reading the posts I think we're a little crunchier than I realized.

I'm the green monster in the closet I guess.

My favorite is cd-ing because it's just so darn cute!
We also:
compost
recycle
Buy used
energy saving bulbs
grow veggies
clean with vinegar and tea tree oil
man powered yard tools (DH)
