Diaper Swappers

DS will be 4 months on Saturday. It's about 30 minutes past time for him to eat, and he's crying, but he won't nurse.

I'm not sure what to do. I can't just listen to him cry!! Help please!

My son was 3 months old when he decided to go on a 5 day nursing strike! He didn't really cry when he was hungry, it was just weird for him to not want to nurse after 2 hours of nursing...then 3 hours, then 4 hours....

Whenever I tried to put him on my breast, he arched his back and cried. We tried expressed breastmilk in a bottle (which he had never taken before) and he didn't want that, either--much to my relief! I mean, I wanted him to eat, but I was afraid he was rejecting *me* personally. The only way he would nurse during that period was in a warm shower with me or if he was sleeping. Maybe you could try getting in a bath with him.

Teething maybe? My DS does that arching back and refusing to nurse thing when he's got a tooth coming in.

for about 3days when i tried to nurse ds in the cradle hold he would arch back and SCREAM! the only way i got him to nurse was laying down. then we would go back and foth and back and forth till he finally settled down!

its slowly getting better!

My DD did that at 3 mos old. For a little while I had to make sure to offer the breast a little earlier that I thought she would be hungry so she would still be calm. Also, I think she was becoming more aware of things around her and got distracted easily. So I would take her in a dark quiet room to nurse, even if we were home. Still don't quite know what was up with it, but she is still nursing at 21 mos...

Mine did this too and I was NOT going to give him formula... He ate when he was hungry. Try spraying him in the face/ mouth with BM. I don't know why but it works.
