Moms of girls - wiping your toddler after a poopy diaper

I know this is a weird question, but I remember a while back, a friend of mine thought that it was weird that her sister still wiped out the folds of her 3 y/o DD's labia when she pooped. (She was still in diapers at the time.) My friend said that she didn't even do that anymore with her 18 month old. I guess she thought that it looked suspicious to be wiping a toddler that way.

Anyway, DD is 13 months old, but unless she's constipated and only pooping out pellets, her poop still gets "up and in there" IYKWIM. She's really prone to yeast infections so I always make sure I wipe her well. I don't want to leave any bacteria there to sit, you know?

How long do you need to keep it up? Is it really a weird thing to do or was my friend just being overly worried?

At 17 months I still do it, I didn't really know there was a time limit on wiping well

As long as DD was pooping in her diaper, I was cleaning her thoroughly. Leaving poop in there is unhealthy! YUCK!

If there's a mess there to be cleaned, clean it. That would be like a boy's mama not wiping around all the sac creases when it gets yucky. You're not doing anything yucky. You're cleaning and teaching your DD good hygiene.

Since we're kinda on the subject. Does she smell "girlie?" I have a 7 month old DD and I've been noticing a kind of feminine smell down there. Maybe it's just my pg nose on high alert though.

As long as they're in a diaper it's bound to get "smooshy" so of course I would/did with dd. Once they're pooping on a potty it doesn't get all up in there

If its dirty, it gets cleaned I plan on doing that until shes potty trained and can do it herself.

When DD was in diapers, we cleaned where poop was. I can't imagine not being thorough like that. I clean under and over all aspects of my son, so why not my daughter..

And sometimes she would have "that" smell..but it was rare, and usually when we hadn't given her a bath within a day or so..

Re: Moms of girls - wiping your toddler after a poopy diaper

I cleaned my last little girl like that anytime she pooped in a diaper and it smooshed into her creases. Even potty trained, I wiped her until she turned 4 and I finally to bribing her to do it herself.

My DD does, she has for a while (she is 2). It is how I can tell when she has been "wubbing her jina"
