Mama cloth washing...I know it's been asked before

I've been using them for a year or so and doing great until my last AF. I always washed with DSs diapers but he is PLd. I had read some of you just throw them in with your dark clothes yet I think mine are getting a detergent build-up

My problem is I don't want to wash them alone because I only have 11 and that would be a huge waste of water......

What do you mamas think? What is the best route to go???

any help would be great. Thanks

I have yet to have this problem, and I wash mine with the regular clothes. I just make sure not to use dryer sheets in that load. My guess would be to strip them with Dawn my hand and then dry in the dryer. Then you can continue washing them with the regular loads.

I soak mine in the sink in cold water for a few hours then wash on hot w/my towels or else w/my son's diapers.

I don't think so because they have plastic snaps, but that is a great idea. I think I'll try doing the hot wash with towels and not use too much detergent since towels don't get that dirty. Hopefully that will work, if not I'll go on to Dawn. My only problem with that is I can't find Dawn that isn't ultra anywhere THANKS FOR THE REPLYS MAMAS

I'd just do a squirt of dawn in with your wash. It doesn't have to be regular dawn. I use dawn ultra.

Maybe I'll try that. I had seen quite a few threads that had said not to use ultra but that was for washing dipers so I just assumed it was the same....Thanks for the info

After each wearing, I rinse the pad in cold water then wring and toss in the laundry. I wash them in hot with the whites or in cold with the colors... it depends on the color of the mama pad (I have both light & bright).

I haven't had any issues with mine.
