Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

Washer: LG HE front-loader
Detergent: Tide HE original powder (up to 1 line)
Extras: None
# of dipes at a time: 15-18
Type of diapers we use: Fishnoodle AI2s, GMs/fleece for nighttime; a few zorb doublers and bamboo pfs tossed in when used as doublers, and cloth wipes

Wash routine:
1. Wash on hot with extra water and extra rinse buttons pressed (no spin).
2. Rinse on hot with extra water (high spin)
3. Dry on medium for an hour and a half

Once every two weeks or so, we'll do a full hot wash with no detergent instead of the rinse (step 2).

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

What soap do you use? Tide Free
Do you add anything extra? Nothing but the occational 1/2 C. Vinegar
How many dipes do you wash at a time? Right now about 15 or so.

Now explain your wash routine line by line

1. Pre-wash COLD.
2. Regular COLD wash with Tide Free (do NOT use more than the first line maybe even less).
3. Regular HOT wash with nothing.
4. Short Rinse

My washing routine has changed about three times as my DS gets older.

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

What soap do you use?
Softened soap nuts, 5-8 in a small cotton bag, tied up.

Do you add anything extra? If so, what?
For smelling loads I add a tablespoon of borax and a tablespoon of Washing soda.

How many dipes do you wash at a time?
Usually all I have. 20 or so, with 5-7 covers. When we had poopy dipes I would wash once a day.

Now explain your wash routine line by line
Shake off any poop into the potty.
Flush.
Rinse off poopy diapers as they get poopy, then throw them in the pail.

1) Dump all diapers, wipes, and covers into an empty machine. (Exc. WOOL)
2) Turn on water (Warm or cold) and use the large setting to allow lots of room to agitate.
3) hold the bag of soap nuts under the water and squeeze suds out over diapers 2 0r 3 times.
4) toss the bag in and add Borax/washing soda if needed.
5) Run on normal wash/rinse.
6) when done hand covers and hang any stained dipes in the sun, or toss dipes in the dryer if needed quickly.

Fold and use.

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

Washer: Maytag top loader
Detergent: Tide HE original liquid or Tide HE with Febreeze (I figure the HE for a top loader will result in less bubbles--probably doesn't matter though)
Extras: Add a capful of Calgon to the wash.
# of dipes at a time: 18-20
Type of diapers we use: mixture of fitteds, prefolds and AIOs
Wash routine:
1. Cold rinse
2. Wash on hot/cold rinse with an extra rinse on cold
3. Dry on medium for an hour and a half

I throw in a cap of bleach every few months, just to make sure to kill anything that shouldn't be there. However, since I switched to Tide, I haven't had any stink problems or anything.

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

I have just started CD so I am still working out my system but I try to use the most natural/enviro-friendly products possible.

washer: top-loader, coin-op, apartment building
pre-treatment: cold water rinse in the sink for poopy diapers.
soap: 2 tbsp. Dr. Bronner's organic castille soap - lavender.
additives: occasionally washing soda f(once every couple of weeks)
# of diapers: 15 - 20 BG 3.0 OS pockets with inserts
frequency: every 2 or 3 days

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

Please fill this out if you don't mind to help all the mommas out!

What soap do you use?
Country Save

Do you add anything extra? If so, what?
I'm trying vinegar in the rinse cycle to help deal with ammonia smell, but I don't think it is working

How many dipes do you wash at a time?
10-15

Wash routine line by line

Using a HE front-loader:
1.Cold rinse with white vinegar
2. Hot wash with Country Save
3. Dry for 75 minutes on medium, usually leave in furnace room to complete the dry

Other details: Stash is mostly GMs, but some random PFs and contours. Covers are wool, so they are done by hand (infrequently). I have 2 wet bags, but think I need another, since I usually do a load when one gets full, and I think it makes for too small of a load. I use diaper liners to catch the poop.

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

Washer: Old-ish top load Kenmore
What soap do you use? All Free & Clear Small & Mighty
Do you add anything extra? 1/2 cup vinegar, OxiClean (see below)
How many dipes do you wash at a time? Up to 40

Now explain your wash routine line by line

1. PreSoak / PreWash cold with 1/2 cup vinegar (ammonia issues) - inserts, doublers and wipes.
2. Set the dial back to PreWash, add pockets so they get a pre-rinse.
3. Extra Heavy hot wash cycle with 1/2 detergent and 1 small scoop of OxiClean - inserts, doublers, wipes, pockets (in other words, everthing).
4. Dry on medium / Permanent Press.

We have all BG 3.0s (well, a couple 2.0s, but same thing ;-) )
