Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

I use mostly PFs and PUL and wool covers with a few fitteds and pockets thrown in. I also have a top loader.

What soap do you use? Original Tide - powder

Do you add anything extra? If so, what? I spray Bac-Out on all poopy diapers before they go into the pail. I also add as squirt to the first wash cycle. Every few cycles I add in a scoop of Sun oxygen cleaner.

How many dipes do you wash at a time? I have 2 in dipes full time and a toddler dipe overnight and I was daily . . . I'd say around 20-24 diapers per cycle plus that many wipes/family cloth.

Now explain your wash routine line by line:

1. cold/cold full wash cycle w/ 1 scoop Tide detergent (I use the Country Save scoop
2. hot/cold full wash cycle w/ 1/2 scoop Tide detergent
3. hot/cold full wash cycle w/o detergent
4. put everything in the dryer on high heat.

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

We use mostly prefolds and fitteds with the occasional PUL pocket or AI2 thrown in.

Washer: Kenmore top-loader
What soap do you use? regular Tide liquid
Do you add anything extra? If so, what? I add Bac-Out to the pre-wash cycle
How many dipes do you wash at a time? 20-30 - I wash every 3-4 days

Wash routine:
  1. Cold pre-rinse with Bac-Out
  2. Hot wash/cold rinse with Tide - about halfway to the first line
  3. Extra cold rinse

Washing Machine Frigidaire Heavy Duty Front Loader

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

I've recently started and only have done several loads myself. Nanny does most of the dipes (she's the one who got me into CD) and has been doing so for years. I have Happy Heiny Pockets and nanny has Tiny Tush Fitted.

Washing dipes:
Load is about 20-30 dipes every 2-3 days for 2 boys 1 1/2 years old.

1a Occiasional stain treat or soaking cycle, when needed.
1. Warm wash with 1/2 amount of soap (Generic Tide - Costco brand)
2. Warm rinse
3. Extra rinse cycle
3a. Extra spin cycle when hang dry
4. Dry medium heat (nothing extra - no dryer sheets) for cold or raining days 4a. On warm days - there has been days in the 70s in Nov in CA - we hang dry the dipes. In the summer the dipes would dry in an hour or so outside - faster or about the same if I used the dryer.

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

I have a top loader. I use 75% pockets and rest are fitteds. I have hard water.

What soap do you use? Oxy-Prime and homemade - I alternate.
Do you add anything extra? Occasionally I might add some vinegar, but rarely
How many dipes do you wash at a time? I'd guess between 2/3rds and 3/4ths of a full load in the washer. This includes all wipes, family cloth, and the pail liner.

Wash Routine:
One full load on 'heavy' using warm water and detergent
One full load on 'heavy' using hot water and no detergent.

Dry Routine:
One 90 minute cycle on low heat. Or line drying in the summer.

1. Cold prewash with 1/4 scoop biokleen powder
2. Hot wash w/ extra rinse with 1/4 scoop biokleen

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

Washer: GE top loader, just a few months old
What soap do you use? Regular ol' Tide
Do you add anything extra? If so, what? I generally use a squirt of Bac Out in the main wash and every now and then (like once a month) throw in some Oxyclean and/or TTO
How many dipes do you wash at a time? 10-15

Now explain your wash routine line by line
Example:
1. Cool, very short wash, the fastest wash on our machine that is, with nothing usually, sometimes some bac-out.
2. Hot 30 minute soak/wash cycle with almost the recommended amount of Tide with an extra rinse at the end.
3. Like once a week I'll do another short hot wash with nothing, just in case
4. Dry fitteds, PFs, AIOs in the dryer on high, air dry covers and pockets

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

Washer: Kenore large capacity, old, at least 10 years.
What soap do you use? Charlie's
Do you add anything extra? Sometimes Bac Out, sometimes Ecolever Powder, sometimes Dawn.
How many dipes do you wash at a time?: 6-10

1. Cold cycle (cold wash, cold rinse) with no soap for all poopy dipes and any poopy wipes. I usually get one poopy dipe a day, so I do the diaper wash after that one.
2. Add remaining dipes and pail liner. Warm wash with 1/2 the amount suggested of Charlie's Soap. Cold rinse.
3. Another warm wash, cold rinse with no soap.

-----For treatment of stains and stink: Bac Out. spray on let set for an hour or so.
-----Once a month, strip with three squirts of Dawn and keep running the cycles until there are no bubbles. Sometimes I use Ecolever Powder, as that is what we use for our regular laundry.
----Once a month run covers through dryer to reseal PUL.

We use pockets, most of which have PUL covers. We have a combination of microfiber and hemp inserts.

Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)

What soap do you use? Tide (regular)
Do you add anything extra? If so, what? nothing extra
How many dipes do you wash at a time? typically 10-12 pockets, their MF inserts, about 6-10 prefolds, a handful of wipes (washcloths), the pail liner, and a wetbag

Now explain your wash routine line by line
1. Cold Rinse
2. Hot Wash with Tide (filled to just below the "1" line in the cup)
3. Cold Rinse
4. Extra Rinse (cold)
5. Tumble dry on low.
6. Air dry anything that's still damp (typically only the infant prefolds are damp still)

We TRIED using Allens detergent in the beginning, but it gave Laura terrible diaper rash so we switched to tide and have been rash free since!
