Have you used Gerber birdseyes?

I know they're not the most absorbant things, but these are what I kinda' have laying around. After trying out prefolds and likin' 'em I'm wondering if I'll like flats. Before I buy GOOD flats, I was thinking I'd try the Gerbers...if so, I'm sure I'll need at least two together, should I go for three? TIA!

I've used them,I folded two together for Taci. It was ok,but I didn't like all the folding I had to do just to get her into them. I like flats better as doublers

If I used one, I made sure to stick a doubler in with it.

Yes, and they are not absorbent but dry super fast. I used two at a time, and still no where near a prefold in terms of absorbency.

When I began experimenting with cd'ing, this is what I had around, so it's what I used. I used a bikini twist fold and then used another flat folded into a pad as a doubler, but even then they weren't very absorbent. I also used them a few times just to kind of loosely cover DS so he could have some "airing out" time without wetting himself and everything around him (he refused to stay on his tummy more than a minute or two, so if I let him air out more than a couple of minute, he'd have a geyser problem!). They were completely saturated quickly.

I think prefolds are much more absorbent and much easier to deal with.

i love flats. they can be very absorbant if you put a good doubler in them or cut one flat in half and fold it up as a doubler. and use a full flat folded for nights it will work great. just add absorbancy as needed. really just like fitteds flats can be absorbant to

I used them when Silas was a newborn and they worked fine. I don't remember if I used one or two, though.

Wal Mart sells five flour sack dish towels in a pack for $5.00. I use these, and they work very well. I do a made up fold, but, although it works, I bet there is a better fold. I use a doubler too. But, they are easy, and dry in the phoenix sun before you can get to the other end of the clothes line.

Re: Have you used Gerber birdseyes?

I used flats both gerber and the good kind from Diaperware, when I went on vacation. We were in a hotel for two days at first so I decided to go with covers and flats. I just folded the gerber orgami style and folded another and used it like a doubler They worked great in the car and I changed her about every 2-3 hours since we were in the car alot. I like the nicer ones from Diaperware better though
