Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

ds nursed until he was 7 months old, he started teething and ended up not wanting the boob anymore on his own.

dd nursed until 16 months, we would've gone longer but my milk dried up when she got sick, it still makes me sad that it happend this way, i wanted to go until she was ready to wean

DD is still nursing at 24 months, and I'm due with baby #2 any day now, so I plan to tandem nurse. When I started out I thought 18 months was long enough, but I can't imagine taking her na-na away from her just b/c of an arbitrary age. She'll wean when she's ready.

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

Ds was not able to latch and I mysteriously dried up so I pumped for 6 weeks and then formula fed.

Dd I tried for 24hours and had severe PPD and no urge to bf. She was formula fed until 1 and then on Soy. My milk also dried up extremly fast (within days).

This time I am really hoping to bf until she's at least 1. I feel more connected this time than last so I an not anticipating PPD and if I am determined and have help I am hoping to beat the mystery of drying up.

I get lots of comments about it being time to quit, so I am just wondering how long you are planning to or how long did you bf your children?
What is "regular" milk?

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

i have the same story as you hun....
with my dear daughter I was having a lot of issues and eventually gave up at 6 weeks old. and although I wish I didnt now that I look back on it, i was very young and unknowledgable about it all and I didnt know there were things I could have done about it to help.

I am 8 months into BF my dear son, and I dont see any signs of quitting. Basically, I dont care what anyone says, because I get a ton of crap too (espically from my inlaws), and Im going to BF till he self weens. I hear it is usually about a year and a half, but if we go longer... then awesome!

i love the time we share. and the best part, no one else can do it. Only I can bring him the amazing benifits of BFing.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had *planned* on 10-12 months... however my ds is 21 months old now and still going strong so I picked the 24 months or longer

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

Both of my two youngest went until 13-14 months when they self weaned. My oldest was only to 3 mo exclusively, and then 6 months until we were done. It just didn't work out with going back to work.

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

We're at 8 and a half months and still going strong. I plan to keep nursing DS until he decides he's ready to quit, so I put 24mo+. We're trying for #2 now, so hopefully when I get pregnant, he'll adjust to colostrum - I'd love to tanderm nurse!

It was rough going back to work, but a great pump makes all the difference! I'm using my lunch hour to drop by the daycare and nurse him, too. If things go right and I'm able to start being a sahm in the next couple of months, he'll probably nurse even more than he does now. He's definately a comfort nurser, which I love! So snuggly!

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

I nursed the first two babies for 13 months and weaned them b/c I was pregnant again (both times by 8 months PP)... this time that will not be happening so I hope to go about two years. But I am open to whatever KB wants.
