Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

I didn't vote because I'm hoping Isabel self-weans before she's 2, but since I'm not sure I'd just pick a number and say "that's how long you can nurse" I didn't want to pick anything. Fingers crossed she self-weans before 2, because as much as I like nursing her and as much as she enjoys it, it would be really nice to not do it too

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

My DDs are adopted from foster care, so they were ff.

DS is 6mo and going very strong, and I plan to let him go as long as he wants. We plan to start ttc when he's 2ish, so we'll see what happens then, but if he's happy I'm happy with him continuing!

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

I stopped it at 9mo when ds would bite me all the time as soon as his teth came in. He was always a biter but with gums it was one thing, with teeth I put the brakes on.
I also had severe issues with plugged ducts and mastitis and at that point I had had enough. I was so sick of being sick. I really hope that the experience is better with any other children we have in the future because I hated the whole wrteched experience. God, just thinking about it makes me want to cry...and in fact, I am.

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

All of my girls self-weaned and all roughly around the 2.5 -3 year mark. DD#1 was done with BFing at 30 months, DD#2 was done at 36 months (she did not like tandem nursing with her new baby sis), and DD#3 was by far my longest...she was 3.5 years. I have listened to many remarks as a result of my choice to extend BF. I just always throw in that we simply do what is best for our family.

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

DS 1 weaned at 13 mos, it was pretty much mutual, plus I was pg and I thought I had to stop(I've learned a lot more since then).
DD weaned at 13 mos, She was all business and too busy for nursing once she was walking good.
DS 2 weaned at 14 mos, I had planned to go longer but was pg again and really sick with hyperemesis and my milk dried up cuz I could only take in and keep in about 200-300 calories a day and was very dehydrated(not exactly ideal conditions for making milk).
DS 3 is 6 mos and going strong, I hope to make it to 18 mos at least, but I can't imagine going longer than 24 mos. We'll see.

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

Hannah weaned a week before she turned 3yrs. She decided she was a big girl and off she went.
Hailey is 23m and still nursing so I picked longer than 24 months. She will decide when she is ready to stop.

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

Riley is 14 months and nursing at night and morning only. So, I picked the 12-24 mo category. I was only going to BF til 1 year and we arent far passed that so I dont mind continuing nursing. But, like Vick, I hope she weans herself before 2.

Re: How long are you going to or did you BF?

I only breastfed Bruce for about 6 weeks. I wanted to feed him to at least one or past one. Bruce is my first child and I had some problems breastfeeding him. He was very hard to take the the breast. The next baby when ever that will be lol I'm going to try my hardest to BF the baby for a year or more. I say if your comfortable with it, then go for as long as you want. Who cares what people say.
