Can a child eat too much banana? I know is seems silly

My DD is 16 months old. She loves banana. And when she doesn't like something in her meal she will push it to the side and point to the banana and ask for more. This morning she ate a whole medium banana. She had another half at lunch and i know that she will ask at dinner.

SOOOOOO, can you overload on banana??? Can it be bad for you, or is it just more of banana goodness? Thanks, Danni

Well, I think you can probably eat too much of anything, in the EXTREME. However, I do think that it would take an awful lot of bananas to be bad for your LO

Just make sure she's drinking plenty of fluids as banana can stop her up.

Constipation is the only thing I would worry about, maybe counter that with apple juice or apples too?

Ds is 17 months and a few weeks ago he went through probably an entire month of eating 2 bananas a day...one in the morning and one for bed. I never noticed any bad things...he's down to one a day now, so maybe your LO will be the same way

Ooh, my baby loves bananas but he gets constipated VERY easily! (We are just discovering this as he has been eating solids for not quite a month now.) So just watch for that....

Bananas are full of fiber and potassium so I don't see how it could be bad.. My DS eats so many bananas I think he is going to turn into one!!!!

I think it would take a LOT of bananas to do any real harm. But that goes for anything really.

Our problem is that Evan already has constipation issues sometimes, so too many bananas equals trouble for him. But he loves them. He'd eat a whole bunch in one day if I'd let him.

Just make sure your lil one is getting lots of fluids, maybe some other fruit that might balance out the constipation risks of bananas...

Re: Can a child eat too much banana? I know is seems silly

I arrived home one day and dh looked at dd's lunchbox and said oh, she finally got tired of bananna. I asked what he meant?

he said,

she had one for breakfast in her oatmeal and asked for another so I gave it to her. then she wanted another one and I gave it to her and she wanted one more but she "only" ate 1/2 so I put the other 1/2 in the lunchbox.

I said, let me get this straight, you gave her 4 banannas this am? he said yes.

so, I think it would take an awful lot of banannas!

they dont constipate her either thank goodness!
