Anyone else here drink while nursing?

Do any other mamas here regularly drink and are breastfeeding?

With my 1st dd, I rarely had a drink and then I was very cautious. In all honesty, I have not worried about it with the last 2 kids (where *is* that hiding under the chair smiley???). I read some things about how they now believe alcohol to leave the mothers milk faster than previously thought, therefore moms should be able to drink in moderation w/out doing the pump and dump.

Anyone else with me and willing to admit it?

Nope no interest. My boyfriend might have me take a sip of some new rum he gets, but nothing more than that.

I'll own it! I have a drink with dinner. He doesn't nurse for more than comfert right now because of medical reasons but he should be able to start nursing again in Jan. and I was told one drink a day wouldn't hurt him. I should google and see what info I can find on drinking and BFing.

This article says no more than 2 drinks a day and if more than 2 than to wait 6 hours to feed baby. What do you think?

I have a drink every night...after ds is down for bed...just one and he sleeps long....

i will have a drink or two while nursing especially if it is a good dark milk producing beer! i do worry about dehydration affecting supply though.

i'm off the beer now because we have been battling thrush and in all honesty i don't miss the alcohal much. it's just not as relaxing as i remeber it to be before i had a wild 2 yr old running around the house at the same time!

I don't drink regularly, but I've been known to drink while NIP'ing at a restaurant. I got a few looks, but no one has ever said anything.

When I worked as a breastfeeding counselor for WIC, we were taught to tell people that as long as they were not to drunk to take care of their baby, then it was OK to drink and nurse, otherwise just to let it wear off before they nursed.

I have had the occasional glass of wine after Logan has gone to bed. His first sleep stretch has always been around 3 hours so IF I drink it is then knowing that I have 3 hours for my body to process it and he should not be affected.

I have a drink almost every night after the baby is in bed. May be a glass of wine or a beer.
