used inserts---are they okay in pockets if hubby wants *new* everything?
My hubby is OC about using all new stuff for our kids. He doesn't mind if the runts use older sis or bro's stuff, but he doesn't want me buying anything used.
I already have PF's in my closet and I have fluffy mail packages for new covers coming soon. I would also like to try some pockets... SEZ and FB's for sure, and maybe some Roos. One of the sites I am looking to buy from has a set of pocket dipes that are new, but the accompanying inserts have been used by their baby for a month. My question is, does it matter if the inserts are used? |

Not unless it bothers you... they dont actually touch the baby's skin anyways but then again I have ALL used dipes so I dont really have a problem with it.. It totally depends on how you feel.

I have no problems with it-- especially the inserts since they're inside the pocket. I think almost all of our dipes are used-- I mean, as long as they've been washed properly, why not? My hubby had to warm up to the idea of used diapers-- showing him the savings is what swayed him.

Oh, DH and I had a problem with buying used at first but then we got over it because of the cost! Used inserts shouldn't be a problem. you can always add some bleach to your inserts and it should be okay.

just don't tell him! they are coming in the same package as the new dipes i imagine, right? for all he knows everything is brand spanking new!
seriously though, they won't touch the baby and you can bleach them if you are all that concerned about it. shouldn't be a problem. i know, the idea of used diapers really throws some people off, but i haven't found it to be gross or anything like that. i love shopping for them! it's so much more satisfying to buy one or 2 at a time than to spend a bunch of money at once and then only get one package. this way i get a steady stream of fluffy mail!!

It doesn't matter, but if it bugs him, I'd ask him specifically about the inserts & if he doesn't like the idea, I'd just buy new. I've had good luck w/microfiber towels from costco 20/$12! Though the yellow ones might color off your pul.

Quote:
no bleach doesn't hurt them if you are using only enough to sanitize. A teaspoon or two is all you need for a load. I've only ever done that once to ward of any stains/stinkies but have never actually bleached any diapers I've bought. So inserts should be fine with it...there is no elastic to harm.
