Question about wraps...

With DS #1 I had a snuggli...We wore it all of 2 times b/c the thing was so uncomfortable with my big chest that it just didn't work for us. Needless to say, I was VERY disappointed! I got a sling for DS #2...and even though I'm in Europe, you should see some of the looks I get when I wear him. I was at the airport today in Frankfurt (it's really big) and wore him around to see my brother off and the way some people looked at me like I was crazy was amazing! Anyway, I digress...I have seen some women here wearing the wraps and was wondering if with the way it works and my big chest if I would 'smother' an infant. It looks really comfy and I would like one, but don't need to be cutting off air for the baby!

Re: Question about wraps...

I'm pretty large chested and it's never been a problem with DS in the wrap. I LOVE my wrap. It's the only way I can really wear him.

Re: Question about wraps...

I didn't so wraps because I was new to baby wearing and did not want something complicated. I am large chested and fluffy. I use a mai tei carrier and I LOVE it. I got mine from www.freehandbaby.com

Re: Question about wraps...

I love my wrap. But, I am very tall and..... Not so large chested. I had dreams of a larger chest. Now, I would be happy if they just pointed up sometimes.

I love my mei tais equally though. A mei tai is the best for starting to wear your baby. Plus mei tais come in such pretty designs.

Re: Question about wraps...

Wraps are great if you are willing to spend the time to learn how to tie them comfortably. I love them. I highly reccomend getting a video to show you how. Some of the high end German woven wraps come w/a dvd.

HTH,
karen
large chested and proud.

Re: Question about wraps...

I loved my wrap, it was the only carrier that I could use that was comfortable. It was also the only carrier that worked with my huge boobs. Stretchy wraps were more comfortable for me. DD spent most of her first 3 months in it.
