Just wondering how you describe it

Letting a child decide when he/she is ready to be done. Not forcing weaning but also encouraging nursing.

Below was/is another thought about "younger" kids. OT. (obviously it was confusing)

Though I believe the "Dont offer, Dont refuse" is helping weaning along since many children will get busy during the day & forget they need/want/etc to nurse (Though I have never really had to offer to my kids since they were/are always attached, lol)

I mean at 1yr, 2yrs the DOnt Offer part, IMO, would be helping weaning along. I mean many kids that age are so busy during the day that they may not nurse until you say "Hey wanna nurse?" or whatever NOT all 2yr olds but many.

I just think that does help many kids wean at young ages.

ETA: Though my 2yr old DD is seriously on the boob ALL DAY! I am not even joking everyone jokes that she is "Nannie Monster".

I see what you mean- I guess I have to give it some thought. Both of my older kids I did the don't offer/don't refuse and ds weaned at 2.5, dd still nurses maybe once a week. I guess I felt they both weaned or are weaning themselves. Actually with my 4 yo I do sometimes offer something else- I wouldn't say I refuse but sometimes I see if she wants soemthing else first. But I guess I'm also sort of guiding her towards letting go of nursing but also because I think she is ready. Not because she's 4 but because I think emotionally she is ready.

LOL my 2.5 yr old forget to nurse? Not likely. Seriously I can't get away from her.She nurses now more than as a newborn. Chases me around all day saying "sides ,sides mom I want sides,please sidessssssssssss."

COUNT MINE IN TOO!! samonia beeegs to nurse, when im in the shower, going potty , cooking dinner, the MOST unopportune times to nurse.. only guess what my dh taught her to call her nursies, instead of "nursies" like she has said..
