After 18 months, I just bought disposables for the first time....

I'm almost ten days into a two week vacation and had to buy disposables. We stayed at SIL's for a week and she has a front-loader. I wasn't expecting any trouble but after a week (three loads) my pockets just quit working like they used to. Now we are at a friends house and I'm going through diapers and clothes like crazy (clothes, since the diapers are leaking) and I'm not about to hog their washer while I strip my diapers....AND their dryer isn't working and I was down to two diapers. There's no way I can get any diapers dry in time without a dryer, so I just caved and bought a pack of Pampers.

My dh said "it's about time."

I had to just cross my fingers and hope that I bought the right size, too, since I'd never bought any before and I wasn't too sure how much my daughter weighed.

Thanks for listening, I totally rambled. It's a big deal to me and I knew only you guys would understand what a major moment this was.

Update! The very first one I put on her, she pooped in. And it went EVERYWHERE. Omg, cloth really does hold in the poop way better. What a mess! There's no way I'd be tempted to use disposables again.

i hate disposables and ive only been cd'oing for a little over a week lol.. i will never go backl!!

When I had a front loader ( maytag Neptune - lemon!!! ), it left awwwwwwwwwful build up & stink on my dipes! I ended up buying a new top loader. You wouldn't believe the build up! It took 7 or 8 washes w/ just water to get all the bubbles out. It was a month before they quit stinking. I think your dipes are leaking because of build up.
I would go to the laundry mat & wash them real good, then you'll be good to go .

the difference in cloth and sposies is AMAZING isn't it..

I ended up putting my son in Sposies after I think it was 19 months of full time cloth diapers.. He started interest in the potty and truth be told I got tired of dealing with cloth/poop and being pregnant too

I know how you feel, I have my girls in sposies right now because we went on vaca at my sisters for a few days. Now dd1 is staying at her house and it doesn't make financial sense for me to only cd dd2 (coin op laundry). And boy, do I miss cloth.
