Night Nursing Addict

His name is Matty and he is a night nursing-a-holic, lol.

But seriously, have any of you co-sleeping mamas found yourself with a nine month old baby who still gets up every two hours to nurse? If so, and you have any solutions for me to try. . .I would greatly appreciate a good night's sleep.

Thanks!

My 9 month old still nurses at night. I honestly can't say how much but probably 2 or 3 times. She just sleeps with us after her first night-time wake-up and I don't have to get up to feed her. I think at this age it is developmentally normal. I am considering night weaning when she is 1 year old. I'll see how I feel about it then.

My DS never nursed but I pumped for him and by 10 weeks he was sleeping 11 hours straight. Every kid is different, I guess.

Well, that makes me feel a little better. Knowing that it is pretty normal. . .my 1st ds did not nurse (we had issues with his latch) and my ds nursed and co-slept, but slept all night at 5 months. I guess the difference made me think it was odd. . .but you are right, they are all so different!

Re: Night Nursing Addict

My almost-22 month old still nurses every few hours at night. I recently put his crib next to my bed and removed the side rail so that he can sleep on his mattress but still be close to me. He still wants to nurse frequently, but I get more-restful sleep because he's not right up next to me, kicking and squirming, and I don't have to worry that he'll fall out of the bed.

It really won't last forever. I thought baby #6 would never sleep through the night, too, but he did (finally) before he was 2.5 years old. My other kids slept all night (7pm to 7am) by the time they were 3-4 months old, so these last 2 kiddos have thrown me for a loop. However, I recognize that the child won't nurse forever and therefore my sleep deprivation won't, either.

Hang in there!!!
