Is 8-9 days okay with no poop for a EBF babe?
I am starting to get worried and I took him to our bfing center today to weigh him and the LC's their didn't think it was normal. I called our doctor who said it was totally normal for a bf'd baby to go that long. He also had food intolerance issues and I guess that's why it worries me more. Just curious.

I've heard that anything from 12x a day to once every 12-14 days is normal for an ebf baby.

I don't think that's normal. Is he nursing well? Maybe massage his belly and see if you can get things going.

Re: Is 8-9 days okay with no poop for a EBF babe?
Definitely normal! My little guy used to go every week to 12 days. Those were the days! Breast milk is very well utilized by the body, so little waste is produced. Just make sure that when the poo comes, its not hard and he doesn't strain excessively to make it. I'm a little surprised that your LC doesn't think its normal. Its a fairly widely known thing, especially for people "in the field".

I wouldn't think it was normal. Then again, my LO poops every day. Sometimes 2-3 times a day. I wonder if it would help if you drank some juice or took some fiber supplements?! Just a thought! I hope your little one poos soon!

Yup, normal! Both my twins held out for 14 days when they were younger and pooped on the same day.
Just keep an eye in case it is hard when it comes out, but I think their little tummies are just evolving how they digest depending on age or what you eat so that would kinda change how often it came out, too.

I know that when my dd went that long I was nervous and I did find real info on the net that it was normal. I can't find it now, but I did come across this thread

Was normal for us, too. My DD went 10-12 days a few times.
