Nicki and Melissa, did the colors stay after washing, or did they bleed? I am trying to decide between the dylon and the procion dyes, and you guys are making the dylon look fabulous!

Re: Dylon recipes for a rainbow of color!

I was thinking of making this a separate thread but I'll try here first! For mixing the colors, at what point are you mixing them? As in, the tsp measurements--are those of the dye powder? The dye once it's mixed with the four cups of water (or whatever that first step is, I don't have a packet in front of me)? I'm thinking of trying some mixes but I don't want to ruin anything.

Re: Dylon recipes for a rainbow of color!

Mainly to get different colors.
I mixed the tsp's of dye into the water mixed then added the salt.

And they do stay pretty well. I have had some slight fading, but nothing thats horrible. I like the light colors.
And if the fade too much I will just re-dye them. Wohoo, I love dying prefolds

Re: Dylon recipes for a rainbow of color!

So you're measuring teaspoons of the dye powder right out of the package? Sorry if I'm a total dunce and just not getting it! I know my packages said to mix the powder into four cups of water, then dump that into the bigger containers of salted water, so I'm trying to picture what steps I want to take to mix them up.

The OP poster said:

These are all Dylon dyes. All are mixed in 10 cups of hot water, 4 tblspns of salt and mixed VERY WELL. Dyes 4 infant pf's at a time. These are the colors that set up in about an hour.
Does that help answer your question? Hoping so

My pf's still look awesome! Very little fading. I use a fixer as well, so that may help.
