s/o hospital bag packing list .. anyone have one ?? what did you pack ??

I brought 2 bed pillows from home with really pretty floral pillowcases.
It was SO nice to have comfy pillows even though the bed was clearly designed with the intent to torture prisoners or something.

Also, bring a really nice and pretty pajamas or nightgown with matching robe for after. I just brought my old flannel robe with me and in all the pictures of me with my new baby, I look like a haggard homeless lady. My cousin-in-law bought this new silk outfit and robe for afterwards and she looked like One Hot Mama in her hospital pics. This time around, I'm totally going to treat myself. :-)

just don't forget the nail clippers, they won't clip them for you in the hospital, and you don't want them scratching their face when all you want to do is take photos!

I way over packed with my first 2 and didn't use hardly anything in my bag. This is what I brought for Jack and this is what I'll bring for baby #4 too.
My hospital provided robe, socks, most toiletries, hair dryer etc

For me:
Comfy PJ's
toiletries (stuff the hospital didn't have)
Something to wear home
Camera
Pillows

For Elizabeth:
Going home outfits
Cloth diapers
Carseat

That's pretty much it, anything else I brought I usually forgot that I had it and didn't even bother to use it. That or the hospital had it for me, and we live literally 5 min from the hospital so anything really important DH can go get for me.

for the stay:

-- appropriate paperwork (for social security, birth cert, insurance, etc.)
-- a little placard to go on the baby's portacrib that says:

To All My Nurses, While I'm here and learning to breastfeed, PLEASE, NO BOTTLES OR PACIFIERS. My mom will be happy to nurse me whenever I fuss. Thanks, Baby Smith

(FYI, I will be rooming-in but just in case she is ever out of my sight, KWIM?)

It's been a few years so I might forget some things, but here is what I packed:

-an old bathrobe (nice to cover up your bare butt during labor in those hospital gowns!)
-a few pairs of old socks
-loose comfortable clothes and old undies
-nursing bra and nursing pads
-baby book
-knitting
-chapstick
-prenatals
-camera
- going home outfit for baby
-"cat blankets" to wrap baby in and then take home for our cats to sniff
-pillow
-shampoo, conditioner, body wash and scrubbie thing
-hair ties

I wish I had brought something else to do other than the baby book and knitting, laying there watching TV while baby sleeps in your arms gets REALLY boring after a while.
