Thumbs up Pin Preference

Which brand of diaper pins is your favorite? Dritz, Gerber or other. Snappi? Why? I use hemp prefolds and have used both the snappi and dritz and am not thrilled with either. Are there better pins out there? Snappi's have a hard time on hemp it seems, although I've gotten them to work, I just don't like the tight 'belt' effect they have and honestly I suck with pins, unles there are sharper ones I don't know about.

Re: Pin Preference

Is it the sharpness you're wondering about?

I use the Gerber ones and keep them stuck in a bar of soap so they slide through the fabric easier.

Re: Pin Preference

My mom also told me a trick about sliding the pin through your hair to make it go in easier. Weird...but it works.

Re: Pin Preference

I have run the pins through my hair and that does help a bit. I might try soap. Do you prefer the Gerber pins? or is there really no difference?

Re: Pin Preference

I despise Dritz pins - every time I use 'em I end up scraping myself with 'em and getting a nice little jagged cut that hurts for days. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong (they didn't come packaged with Band-Aids like I would think they should), but I can't stand using pins.

But the whole "belt" thing with Snappi's bugs me - it can't possibly be comfy to have that pressing into her when she's sitting up

Re: Pin Preference

I hate hate hate the Dritz. I can never get them to unpin right and slice my finger... Yuck!!! But I like the cheapo ones at walmart like $1.00 for 4 pins. They never get dull.

Re: Pin Preference

I've done the no pins and even with a snug wrap my boys wind up with a wad of diaper at the bottom of the cover. They walk around like they just came in off the cattle drive. So I do need to snappi or pin. Sounds like I need to try the cheapos. P.S.- I've never hurt myself with a Dritz, are you sure you are sliding the lock up all the way before undoing them? The colored head slides up. (It took me a while to figure that out )
