If you do selective vaccinations please tell me which and why or why not!

I am looking into them because we have another one coming up with DD. It is hard for me here since they are in Polish.

I finally found an online Polish English medical dictionary and have them figured out. It looks like they do Hep B, DTaP, Polio and MMR. DD has had all but MMR. I think that may be what is next. I am trying to convice DH that we should wait until she is 2 since that is only 6 months away. I would love any info on your selective vax schedule and any thing else on MMR before we go!

Thanks, Danni

We waited until DS turned 2 and I started with DTaP. (I didn't want the "D" and the "T" part, but I was concerned with pertussies and there is no single shot.)

He's getting a shot every 6 months until we're completed with what we want. So we have to finish the DTaP, then we're doing MMR (each single shot) and then probably the HepB when he is 10-12 years old.

I found this article very helpful when deciding on the schedule for my DD.

Re: If you do selective vaccinations please tell me which and why or why not!

We are following the schedule in Dr. Stephanie Cave's book What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Children's Vaccinations. So, we're starting at 4 months with Hib and Polio, then getting DTaP at 5 months, and then repeating that cycle another two times...Hib/Polio at 6 mos, DTaP at 7 mos, Hib/Polio at 8 mos, DTaP at 9 mos. Then, at 15 mos, he gets the measles vax. At 17 mos, Hib/Polio again. At 18 mos, DTaP. At 24 mos, we will consider Pneumococcal (but I'm still on the fence about that one). At 27 mos, he gets the rubella vax. At 39 mos, he gets the mumps vax. And then, about a year before he hits school age, we'll do the titres to see whether the boosters for DTaP, Polio, and MMR are necessary. And we'll also decide at that point whether we want to start the HepB series and if he's hasn't gotten chicken pox the "normal" way, we'll see if we want to do the varicella vax. Oh, and we're insisting on Thimersol-free vaccines, of course.
