Ok ladies! We just moved to Minot & I have a almost 4 mo old. I am wondering about winter baby gear! Is it best to do a snowsuit with a minky type canopy for wind blockage, the jj Cole bundle me, or the jj Cole arctic hooded cover? I dont want to over or under-do it! What have you all used and what do you recommend for infant carseat travel? Thanks!!!!!

Re: North Dakota Mommas?

The best things is a light fleece jacket and shower cap car seat cover (the type that goes over the seat not in the seat. With my son he wore a light Columbia fleece jacket with a fleece hat. If he had a warm fleecy outfit on already I'd just put the hat on and skip the jacket. I'd buckle him in his seat then put a warm blanket tucked around his legs. And lastly I'd put the cover over him. Some days he'd get a little to hot with that, when we'd take him out of the seat the back of his head was wet from sweat. I'm planning on doing the same with his sister this winter. I also had a Columbia fleece bunting for really cold days, but I think he only wore it a couple times. You want to stick with something like fleece under the car seat harness since in an accident it won't compress the straps. The same thing goes for older kids. I know even for myself I pretty much only wear a fleece jacket in the winter now.

This is the type of jacket that my kids wear in winter. http://www.columbia.com/Carson-Cutie...efault,pd.html And this is the bunting we have for both of them. http://www.columbia.com/Snowtop%E2%8...efault,pd.html And where I got the car seat cover. http://stores.ebay.com/Little-Jack-B...id=p4340.l2563 Those come with a thing for in the seat which isn't safe itself, but worked nicely for our swing when DS spit up in there.

Re: North Dakota Mommas?

I would love to join the group if I may

We are coming to GF from Norway in the middle of december. Very excited, but a bit nervous also. I have heard it is pretty hard winters there, so bringing all my wool wraps and wool clothes.

Are there any CD/BW groups in GF? I will be a SAHM and would love to meet up sometimes

This is what my kids use for everyday in and out of car seats, both on babies and toddlers.

On really cold days, we wear a fleece jacket underneath as well. We wear boots and keep soft shoes in the diaper bag for when we go into places.

We do own coats and snowpants to wear outside playing or when sledding. We also keep them in the car when we travel out of town in case of emergency.

The one I have is snaps, the other just goes on over the head. They all come with a snap now I think.
