I've lived in Idaho for all but 2 years of my life. I've been in the Boise area for about 11 years and before that, eastern idaho for 9. I think it's fair to say that I have a love/hate relationship with idaho .

ooh there is an Idaho thread!

We're in McCall presently. We've lived in Salmon, Plummer and Desmet as well. LOVE Idaho!

Yea, it's a PITA in regards to medical care, but the land and weather much more than make up for it.

Re: Idaho Mamas-Let's hear from you!

We lived in Boise for about a year nearly three years ago, and dh spent some time there after high school. We'll just say that he and Boise don't seem to get along very well, there must be some sort of bad cosmic/karmic vibe goign on there. But he is now working a job that has him gone from home nearly all the time, so hopefully this stint will go a little more smoothly

I don't have much appreciation for the desert areas, but I do LOVE being able to drive on up past Lucky Peak and be in the GREEN. And the mild winters are nice. I'd appreciate it if someone would point me in the direction of some nice people get-togethers though, because I had some bad luck meeting mamas the last time we were there....people seemed kind of clique-ish? Like if you weren't from there, they had no use for you.

that can be true for sure. a big part of it is irritating tourists!

I can't say I love the desert areas either, we haven't lived in those though, only mountain or prairie.

When we first moved to Idaho nobody would give us the time of day till DH grew a huge beard like everybody else had. LOL

The best we can figure by our observations is this:

north idaho (Riggins and north)= longer hair, big beards, flannel, pickup trucks and gun racks.

south idaho (south of Riggins, Salmon and south)= short, neat hair, neat clothes, newer vehicles, etc and a healthy dose of respect for LDS religion (much more prevalent down here than up north).
