mama cloth questions

First of all, am I in the wrong forum? Is there a forum for mama cloth?

Okay, I have just ordered my first mama cloth, and I'm so excited. (If only AF would come back to visit - haven't seen her since I conceived in fall '07!)

1) How do you wash cloth pads? Same as dipes?
2) How do you store them before doing laundry? a mini diaper pail?
3) How do you store clean ones that you bring with you while you're away from home?
4) What do you suggest for stain-removal?

Thanks,
Bethany

Re: mama cloth questions

1) How do you wash cloth pads? Same as dipes? Yeahp- I actually just throw mine in with the diapers. When I didn't have a LO in diapers but still used mama cloth I washed the same way though
2) How do you store them before doing laundry? a mini diaper pail? I store them 'self-folded' back up with the snaps snapped, in a little basket under my sink. I would love a nice pad pot that I could put some water in and use the water on my plants, but I have too many wandering hands and wouldn't want that dumped out on my bathroom floor
3) How do you store clean ones that you bring with you while you're away from home? In a small little wetbag type thing that was actually from a Clinique bonus week
4) What do you suggest for stain-removal? As for 'set' stains after already being washed I would sun them just like you do diapers- otherwise you could pour peroxide over them before 'storing' them before washing- really, I don't worry too much about stains on my mama pads- no one actually looks at 'em but me

Re: mama cloth questions

1) How do you wash cloth pads? Same as dipes? Yes, although I don't think they necessarily need the second post wash rinse.
2) How do you store them before doing laundry? a mini diaper pail? I just use a wet bag on the floor tucked next to toilet.
3) How do you store clean ones that you bring with you while you're away from home? I have a PUL lined little bag that has 2 sides (one for clean, one for dirty). I got it from www.weceedee.com (a NappSack bag)
4) What do you suggest for stain-removal? I don't do anything special at all - the cold rinse before washing is your best bet I think, because proteins (like blood) are "set" with hot water. (You know, same idea as getting a blood stain out of clothing - don't use hot water or you will set the stain.)

Re: mama cloth questions

1) How do you wash cloth pads? Same as dipes? Yes, but I usually throw them in with the dipes after the cold prewash is done.
2) How do you store them before doing laundry? a mini diaper pail? Yes, I soak them in a little pail that i store under the sink.
3) How do you store clean ones that you bring with you while you're away from home? A PUL lined wetbag that has 2 sides (one for clean, one for dirty) from happy tushies.
4) What do you suggest for stain-removal? I rinse with the diaper sprayer before throwing them into the pail for soaking. I get very little staining this way!

Re: mama cloth questions

1) How do you wash cloth pads? Same as dipes? Yeah, I just throw them in with diapers. When he potty trains, I will wash with towels.

2) How do you store them before doing laundry? a mini diaper pail? I keep them with poopy diapers - in a bucket of cold water on top of the washing machine, with a squirt of bac out in it. I rinse them out in the sink before I throw them in there.

3) How do you store clean ones that you bring with you while you're away from home? I have a mama pad bag from Happy Tushies - it has two sections, one for clean, one for dirty.

4) What do you suggest for stain-removal? I have used mine through two cycles so far, and don't have any stains. I would guess you can sun them just like diapers. I think the Bac Out and rinsing help to keep the stains away.
