Any tips on trying for boy?
I love my 2 girls to death, but think that a boy would really round us out. I currently have a 6 month old born 10/18/05. I wanted to have just 1 more and I wanted to start trying when DD was close to or around 1 year old. I have tried looking at the Chinese calendar deal, but it is so confusing. I don't know when I should start trying, and if there is any other things out there that can help? Anyone??

Re: Any tips on trying for boy?
there's the shettles method: http://www.childbirth.org/articles/sex.html
i believe the basic premise is that boy sperm swim faster but girls are "tougher" so w/ intercourse further away from o-date is more likely that the girls will survive & if you dtd close to o then the boys are faster. |

Re: Any tips on trying for boy?
There's a whole laundry list of things on WebMD to do and days to dtd based on your cycle and which you want - boy or girl. Guess who got bored and researched it once.

Re: Any tips on trying for boy?
We have never tried for a specific gender, but when TTC we always bd the week before to the week after O just to be "safe" and we have 3 girls so the faster sperm thing never worked for us.

Re: Any tips on trying for boy?
okay i knew a lady that "picked" the sex of each of hers, this is what she did according to what the dr told her. well not really what she did, but anyhow here's the theory and they have 4 it worked each time. basically what you need is ph strips and you can test your ph either with your urine or your saliva and acidic will get you a girl, b/c the male sperm cannont survive in acidic environments, and alkaline will get you a boy b/c the male sperm swim faster. there's are spefic things you can do to become one or the other, if you need to be alkaline or base (for a boy) don't eat things like stuff with vinegar or pickles and stuff, try to stay away from chicken and fish. stuff like that, she said that one time she just couldn't get base or alkaline for her 3rd (she wanted a boy, and got one!!!) she switched the kind of water she was drinking, she was drinking from tap and switched to bottled and it did the trick! so there ya go!

Re: Any tips on trying for boy?
I have NO idea about the on top or on bottom but I think thats an old wives tale!
With DS I was on the pill so I cant count that time LOL DD we dtd a few days before O (ok 5!) dh was going out of town and we had to at least TRY that month..and it worked This time around (another boy) we DTD the day I O'd So I really believe in the theory that boy sperm swim faster but girl sperm live longer.

Re: Any tips on trying for boy?
I've been told(after we concieved this last baby...go figure) that if you want a boy your Dh should overload on Banana's. Something about the increase in the amount of potasium he recieves will boost the male sperms in strenght to survive. I dont' know that it will work...but definitly worth trying...if Dh can stand banana's. Apparently after this he won't be able to look at a banana without throwing up...LOL
