had a scare today...
Even though for the past few weeks and at the OB office there's been NO problem finding the baby's hb with the doppler, last night and this morning I could not find it. I freaked. Now under normal circumstances, I'd have waited it out...but given my history, I chose to go get checked out for peace of mind (the drs offices were all closed today due to the weather, so I had to go to the ER)...
The ER staff were all very...how shall I put it...not helpful at all. I heard comments like... "oh you know you won't even be able to hear the hb until 20 weeks" "so how did you even come to have your own doppler?" "you know at only 12 weeks, you should even be able to hear the hb yet" blah blah blah... so they take me back and the nurse gets out her doppler, which is only 2mhz...the one I'm using is 3mhz and I tell her that. She tries to find the hb for about 10 minutes with no luck. I was trying not to panic because so many memories of Aiden came rushing back, but I kept telling myself that her doppler is crap and she obviously doesn't do this much... then they take some blood from me and we sit and wait to be taken back to the u/s room. On the way back there I was told that my beta was over 77,000 "so that should reassure you right?" Um...no, not if it just died lady. I wait 15 more minutes in the u/s waiting room and finally get back (by this time we'd already been there at least 2 hours). She starts the u/s and we can see the baby but neither of us can tell anything and she doesn't say anything. It looked like it was maybe squirming around, but she was moving the wand so dang fast we couldn't tell. So finally dh asks "is it moving??" and she says very nonchalantly "oh yeah, its moving all over the place" (THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO RIGHT AWAY???) So I got a pretty detailed u/s measuring everything (baby is measuring 11w5d, hb was 157)...and she didn't see any SCHs either!! She saw a pocket of fluid where one of them might have been, but she said she didn't think it was blood (she did that thing that shows blood flow and such). So...WHAT A FREAKING RELIEF. The staff was real jerky (not unlike how they were when I went into the ER alone when I was 19 weeks pg with Aiden with chest pain) that kind of "why are you even here?" attitude. But, I got what I wanted - reassurance and that's what counts. I was so confident the baby was gone I was even planning things in my head. I hate that feeling!

Re: had a scare today...
Oh, mama, how terrifying for you. Obviously it wasn't a good day for the nurse. Great pic of the baby btw!

You did the right thing going in if you were worried.
It's so great that everything is going so well and that you got to see your LO moving around so much!

Oh hun that is horrible that they treated you like that. I think some ER can be so rude. I am glad that all is ok!

Re: had a scare today...
You had every right to be worried and they should have been more sensitive. I am so relived to hear the good news! The woman that did my u/s was horrible too.
