ameda pump

My motor broke on my Medela, so I rented a Ameda Elite while it was being replaced. I love the Ameda. Has anyone used the Elite and Purely yours that can compare how the hospital grade works vs the Purely Yours?

Thanks! Lori

I think the Elite is better at building supply, but it is huge and costs a fortune to own. I use a Purely yours for 7 months without complaint. Oh yes, Purely YOurs is much quiter than the Elite

Re: ameda pump

I have a Purely Yours and LOVE it! I've used a Medela PIS and the Medela Lactina and neither worked as well for me as the Purely Yours.

As a side note-the new Lansinoh double electric pump (it's purple-you can't miss it LOL) is IDENTICAL to the Purely Yours, the only difference (other than the color) is that you can't buy the Lansinoh with a bag or any of the extra goodies that you can get with the Ameda. It kind of depends on your $$ situation-if you have the money for the extra stuff, get it, but if you don't, the pump is still a great buy on it's own.

Re: ameda pump

I have been very blessed to use an Ameda Elite since coming home from the hospital. I returned to work at 6 weeks. WIC has let me borrow it for almost 14 months. I :> WIC for this reason!!!!! It has been a lifesaver in my breastfeeding success.

I remember an LC telling me that Ameda and Medela are like comparing pampers to huggies (ok, not a good comparision....maybe like Happy Heinys to Drybees?...lol...)

I would so buy an Ameda Purely Yours!

Re: ameda pump

hmm...I am convinced! Now, I have to decide if I want to keep renting the Elite or buy the Purely Yours or Lanishoh (sp?). I have had so many supply problems I am considering the rental, but that will be pretty expensive in the long run! Maybe ebay or craigslist for a used one...
Thanks everyone!

Re: ameda pump

You can get the purely yours for about the price of a rental for a few months. I just got the basic purely yours without all the extras. Now, I don't need it to pump away from home, so I never needed the car adapter or anything like that. But the little "diaper bag" that I got from similac at the hospital is the perfect size for it to fit into. So, that's what mine has been in.

wow! i'm surprised so many of you like the PY! mine sucks. i get barely and ounce from each side with it. when my ds2 got sick and i had to pump and syringe feed, i splurged and got a Avent IQ duo and i love it. now that i went back to work it's wonderful to get 4-8oz of milk with each pumping
