My midwife suggested I take a food-based vitamin, probably like that NOW brand pp was talking about. You find them at the health food store. She told me that since it is food based the body absorbs a lot more of it compared to synthetic based vitamins. I had no idea there was different kinds! I need to go get some!

The NOW brand sounds interesting. I've been taking Rainbow Light Prenatals for the last 3 years (recommended by my midwife) but I'm always researching...

Re: is there a better prenatal vitamin

Wow there is so many to think of. I'd like to figure it out sooner rather than later since I don't go in for my first check up until Mar. My Dr knows I'm pg, but they don't start prenatal care till you're 12 weeks plus. I like the flinstone idea.

I have been taking food based ones like Rainbow Light and Life Source with no problems.

a little hijack here, but I'm curious as to how much the food-based vitamins are, so I'll know what to expect when I go get some. DH seems to think they may be a lot more expensive than your typical prenatal.

I can't remember how much Rainbow Light are but I just paid $23 for a 2 month supply of Life Source.
