Re: Tell me all about CLOMID!

are you breastfeeding? my endocrinologist just about had a coronary when she found out that I had had two miscarriages/pregnancies while feeding my ds. She says it still can interfere with hormones. I'll have to let you know if that's the case- working on trying to keep the pink line on my tests (I stopped bfing four months ago) and so far we're in the positive.

has your doc checked prolactin levels? what about thyroid panel? thyroid issues can cause both infertility and miscarriages and are linked to learning disabilities and lower iq function.

also, I know you lost one not too long ago. I think you owe your body a chance to become hormonally balanced which sometimes takes a few months. I lost one in dec. we started trying the first good cycle out. I'm normally a quick study in that department but we came up bust for each cycle until now. free of meds - which i was due to start next week. the clomid was supposed to be as a "stress test" to measure ovarian reserve since I'm..... over 35 but the nurse said it would be same as taking it to try to conceive, so i was a bit concerned with the prospect of more than one egg being released.

maybe since you don't want to start meds for a month or two, you could try herbal remedies to try and "right" your hormones so that you don't have to go to the point of meds.

good luck and keep us posted!

Re: Tell me all about CLOMID!

I don't have any experience with taking it myself, but know a lady who tried everything for years, and it messed with her whole body and now she feels awful all the time. Give your body a little time and I bet it will suprise you with no hormones or drugs needed. I'll pray for you!!

Re: Tell me all about CLOMID!

I have to admitt I havent read all the above posts, but I saw the clomid title and thought I would throw my in!

I have done both clomid and injectibles so maybe I can help.
One thing I remember most about clomid is that at the end of my cycle my periods were SUPER heavy. TMI warning....worse than ever... had to change pads about every half hour or I would leak all over the place and that is with a super plus tampon and overnight pad. It lasted about two days and then was back to normal.

please feel free to ask if you have any more ?s

Re: Tell me all about CLOMID!

After 3 m/cs ttc #3 I took clomid to get & stay pg with Sofia ( I O late too....around cd 24-26). I took the clomid because it boosts pre conception progesterone levels & is supposed to make you O earlier in your cycle. Usually you take it for 5 days, depends on the Dr as to what cds they want you to take it. I did it 3,4,5,6,7 and STILL didnt O until cd 20. Oh & it can give you a false + on an OPK so you have to wait 9 days after your last pill before you can trust one I never had to take any shots & usually they dont have you do that until you have some failed clomid alone cycles, 6-9mos tops on clomid is also a standard because of the lining thinning that someone else mentioned earlier. I would also wait 3 regular af's after a m/c before ttc again, I didnt wait after my 1st m/c and had a 2nd and then didnt wait again (because I thought it was just bad luck) & m/c again. That time, I waited 3 cycles, (& boy was it hard because I saw a specialist during that 2nd cycle & he did a really good u/s & said I was ready to O that day)....but that 3rd cycle, I took the clomid, progesterone after O & got Sofia.

Re: Tell me all about CLOMID!

Yeah I had bad mood swings and hot flashes, that was about it for me.. I know some girls never have any, and some have them all.. I did have them with 50mg but it wasnt that bad at all on 100mg, strange I know..

Rachele its best to go to a herbal store and look up the info or do lots of search online.. Sometimes herbs don't work either so don't get upset if they dont.. They never worked for me, I was taking like 11 pills a day and no result at all.I know I did vitex and dong quai together, then I think EPO until I O'ed then you stop that cause it can hurt inplantation.. I think thats right.. LOL

Anyways I'll do some hunting through my bookmarks and see what I have.. LOL

Re: Tell me all about CLOMID!

Hot flashes and evil moods here! I have used Clomid with all three of pregnancies...and my twins are a result of Clomid. I wish I didn't have to take drugs to ovulate, but I am blessed as a result! Good Luck!!

Re: Tell me all about CLOMID!

I used clomid to get pg with my last 2 pregnancies. I had terrible mood swings and hot flashes, bloating, and heavy bleeding and cramping. The o pains were enough to send me to the hospital! That being said.... I would take it again if the herbs dont help you.
I am currently waiting for my ppaf and am going to try herbs first. dont ovulate on my own, my periods are anywhere from 10 days to 40 plus days apart, and my luteal phase is only 6-8 days long. If I can get my body to ovulate an lengthen my lp to 10 days I'll be sooooo thankful not to have to take icky 'ole clomd again.
I'm going to take vitex, and red raspberry once my cycles return.

Re: Tell me all about CLOMID!

I did clomid last year to concieve. I have PCOS, and have had 7 loses due to egg quality and an incompetent cervix.

I had mood swings, hot flashes, was extremly hungry, and had headaches while taking it. That said though, it did work. I was able to concieve my twins on my first try with it. I took 50mg days 3-7, along with baby asprin, vitamin c and e and my partner also took votamin c and e the whole time up until my day 21 test.

I wasnt monitored my first cycle. Alot of people question this, but I would recomend it to anyone, because I think the lower level of stress helped out alot. I was given provera to induce my period, started clomid on the 3rd day of my period. I am not sure exactly when I oed because I dont respond well to ovulation tests, but my P4 showed a level of 21 which indicated that I had oed. I felt less stressed with only one test to pass during the cycle. I know many moms who are monitored from day 1 and say its so much more stressful to know how thick your lining is, how big your follies are, stuff like that.

There is a huge Clomid Club forum over at tryingtoconcieve.com that can help you and fertilityfriend has one too if your a paid member there.

I read your going on vacations and such....if you go to mexico you can pick up clomiphine citrate down there for $18 and thats enough for 6 cycles at 50mg a cycle! Thats where I got mine at, and my OB even suggested getting it from there because it was cheaper, and it worked.
