Help me open this dang jar

I'm fighting with my jar of Pesto.

I can't get it open and I'm about to take a hammer to it. My pasta is getting cold and my hands are sore. I tried banging it with a knife, using a "gripper" using a towel, and all of my brute strength. How the hizzle do I open this jar?

Make dents in the the edge of the lid using a butter knife. That will release the seal.

Yep, I was going to say to pry a butter knife between the lid and jar to break the seal.

Re: Help me open this dang jar

I take the rounded end of a spoon and put it underneath the lid and pry up, it pops the seal. Hope you got it!

You could try running it under hot water for a few minutes as well, that usually works for me.

I've never heard of that...amazing!

I eventually got the stupid thing open. UGH. What irritates me most is that I had opened it earlier in the day and had the same problems but didn't think that would happen again (I didn't "misthread" when I closed it either). STUPID JAR!!! That was some awesomely good pasta though!!

I have a Kitchen Aid pot holder that has silicone stubby things on it. I use that to open jars.

Re: Help me open this dang jar

You can also try using a rubber glove to create more friction to pull the lid off.

Or find a nice strong man and ask him to do it for you.
