Once a Month Cooking....Getting Ready to try it
Hello all,
I am getting ready to try the once a month cooking (shop one day, cook and freeze the next). Anyone else try it and like it/dislike it? Any hints? My husband has agreed to help me. We have 2 little ones under 4 years. Thank you, Gen |

Re: Once a Month Cooking....Getting Ready to try it
Good luck to you! True ONCE a month cooking is too much for me. I don't have the time, $$, patience or freezer space. I do better with "feeding the freezer" throughout the month. When I prepare freezable meals I make extras and freeze. Tonight we finished the last of a huge huge pot of chili that was 2 meals fresh and frozen in to 5 more meals (two of which I gave to a friend who is a new mama).

Definitely try out your recipe first before making a 5 or 6 meal batch first. Start with 2 meals (one to eat now and one to freeze). That way if it's something you don't like, you won't have 5 more waiting in the freezer for you.

I like this site: http://www.christysclipart.com/oamc2.html.
She has TONS of tips, recipes, and I just noticed she has "classes" in WMV video files - I haven't watched them yet though. I have had really good luck with her recipes. I just go through and pick ones that sound good and make ONE batch of each to start, then keep track of what we like and move on from there. I really like it, but don't do it currently due to tiny freezer space.
