The "catch" to RME is that you can't pay with whatever credit card you want. If you want to pay by credit card, you apply for THEIR credit card and can pay thru it. That will be how they make their money.
AHA! That explains my feelings, then, and I definitely won't be signing up!

ETA: I expect better CS from any place that is giving me a *credit card*. 24 hours or less turnaround on email/easy to get ahold of on the phone/etc. A credit card is a big deal to me.. and I just really don't need/want another one. I like using my debit through BOFA where I can participate in Keep the Change at the same time.

i have had RME for some time now...and i know a bit more about it than most because my father is a tax attorney and involved with it. its legit and perfectly safe...and like any other banking institution is FDIC insured and will require your ss#...and will sell your personal info unless you opt out. this is normal of ANY bank.

Re: RME is safe/ legit. right?

I've been signed up for a week or so now and have not received any spam, phone calls, solications or anything else. I've requested the money be sent to me in a check and I expect it soon. A friend of mine signed up Monday of last week and had her check by Friday. I feel fine having it.

FYI if you are interested in closing your account, you have to empty the account first before closing it.

Re: RME is safe/ legit. right?

NAK - I guess this explains why I was having problems. I tried to sign up but as soon as it asked for my SSN I was worried. I did fill it out though and it kept saying they couldnt verify me and would send something by mail within 3 days on how to proceed. I have moved AND changed my name in the last 2 years.

Im not sure now if I want to continue with it or not... I guess Ill see what they want from me first.

I'm already signed up, but don't think I'll link my main bank account to it.

I just tell them they will have to verify me another way (they usually can come up with something, it just takes a while for them to find out what the bank policies are.) And if they don't, another bank can lol.

I am not totally opposed to the use of social security numbers, lol. They do make some things easier. I am just pretty selective about it. I refuse to give any online company the numbers, you can always be verified some other way.

Pay-Pal just asked for a bank account, (which is not an issue at all since I want to get my WHAM money to my business bank account ), an address for that account and something else, it has been a while, but I think it was a credit card to the same address for back up funding. Most WAHMs need a funded account, cc account, and a debit card (for the wholesalers that don't have/take Pay-Pal). I was really worried about it, but Pay-Pal was cool and helped me get around it.

It is a huge pain and you have to jump through a lot of hoops. Most of the time you have to go to the "higherups" at the bank and talk to them.

FTR, I totally think RME is legit, I just am happy with PP and want to see it in practice a while before signing up.

Yeah, I don't plan on using their credit card, I will just keep pp for my credit card transactions. I just plan on using it for RME transfers. Maybe if I sell something bigger I will have them send me a check, but I think for the most part I'll just keep the money in my account. /shrug
