Has anyone ever heard of eggplant parmesan causing a woman to go into labor? I heard it on some show once when I was pregnant with my daughter, but didn't try it. My son was a week and a half "late", so we went to the Olive Garden and I ordered it, and cleaned my plate. That night in bed, my water broke! Hmmmm?

Re: Eggplant Parm?
I've heard that too. I even have the recipe for some restaurant that claims that women go into labor after eating their version. It didn't work for me, but it was really yummy!

Re: Eggplant Parm?
I've never heard that before. Hmmm...sounds like a nice way to go into labor. So what is the cause? The eggplant or the sauce? Yummy, now you have me wanting one...I'd better wait a few months JUST in case

Re: Eggplant Parm?
i have heard that, but i also heard that it wasnt' so much the dish as the seasoning in it...i think the basil? anyway, supposedly it is the amount of the herb in the sauce. can't remember where i read that, othewise i'd look it up again.

Re: Eggplant Parm?
I tried it with my last pregnancy and I don't think it really worked (of course I was trying all the wives' tales at the same time!!!). I used the recipe from the restaurant that claims you will go into labor (I think the restaurant is in Atlanta but might not be remembering that right). I also drank alot of raspberry leaf tea in the weeks before labor and that may have helped with a quick labor (my second was only 2 hours start to finish where as my son was 14 hours and then 2 hours pushing). The eggplant parm is worth a try and I'll probably try it again this pregnancy!

Re: Eggplant Parm?
Here's some links about it:
Apparently a myth started because of this restaurant: http://pregnancyandbaby.com/pregnanc...labor-5153.htm However, basil and oregano can cause contractions, but it doesn't say how much: http://www.maternitycorner.com/mcmag.../preg0007.html Worth the try!

Re: Eggplant Parm?
I've heard that, but never tried it. A few moms I know claim it isn't eating the eggplant parmesan that will start labor, its making it
