I often rinse my dipes out in the sink before I put them in the pail, which means I can just do the wash/rinse/extra rinse. I have a front loader, too.

I always do a cold wash with the detergent first, then a hot wash (no detergent) with extra rinse cycle to be sure all the detergent washes out. So yes, pee dipes alone or with poo, I always do the 2 cycles. But I have a front loader and I had stinky issues before doing it this way, so I stick with what works now. It's not worth it to try to "save time"...

You may want to do just a rinse before you wash. It gets a lot of the ammonia out.

My mom has a front loader. I do a cold prewash and then a hotwash/cold rinse (with extra rinse). does your washer have a prewash setting? just a sugestion

It has a quick wash, which is what I use for the cold wash. Then I do the hot wash on the heavy soil setting so it uses more water.

I asked this same question awhile back & someone gave me the advice that if you're not doing a pre-rinse, than in essence you're really just washing your dipes in pee-infused water. So I've always done a double wash after that visual.

Well I always rinse them in the tub to get all the poop off and rinse any pee out and wash by the evening. I only do hot wash/cold rinse. I dont have problems... But I guess I am cleaning them before the wash essentially, not much extra work for me either, just a minute or two to run the dipe under cold water. Oh and I usully do a cold soak for an hour or two before the wash

Nasty. I wish my front loader wasn't the bottom of the line. We don't have a prewash, no water level control, just the temperature, length of the cycle and whether you want an extra rinse afterwards or not. I love it otherwise.

oh and I never would have thought about pee staining. ewww. oh well, so much for saving some water. I think I'll just do a short cycle first on cold and then do a long cycle with the hot and just keep that as my routine. Even that is still better than sposies.
