Charlie's Powder & PUL

I contacted the company and this is what they said about using the laundry powder and PUL.

"The Charlie's Soap Laundry Powder has an ingredient in it to keep it dry. In some cases that agent leaves causes tightly woven waterproof fabrics (old style) to lose their waterproofing. This effect is not cumulative. The waterproofing is only slightly diminished and stays that way. It can be quickly fixed by washing the garment as normal with the Charlie's Soap Laundry Powder to remove the soils and then rewashing the garment in "washing soda" (Sodium Carbonate, NA2CO3) alone. This will instantly restore the waterproofing. As far as we have been able to determine, you only need to do this process once in a while.

The Laundry Liquid does not have this problem. Since the waterproofing dimunition is rare, most people enjoy the convenience of the powder only occasionally restoring the waterproofing with washing soda."

Hope this answers everyone's question!!

Do you *really* only charge $10 for foreign shipping on the gallon jug? To anywhere??!?!?!? Is this using parcel post or Airmail? It's a big difference in time to me. Parcel post takes at least 2 months & Airmail only takes 3 weeks.

I'm in the Republic of Georgia. LMK please!!

I think you are fine. The man said the difference was very miniscual and that there was no real issue with washing with it. However, the recommendation to wash every now and then with plain washing soda to remove the agent from the diaper should help if at any point you notice the diaper is not as waterproof.

Re: Charlie's Powder & PUL

Charlie's Liquid is the EXACT same thing as Sensi-Clean and Sport-Wash. FYI

Also, where does one get plain washing soda? Oh yeah and if it causes a loss of waterproofing then why does Bummi's recommend it?
