That's our plan... only I don't switc the nipple. Our DD#2 will spit out the nipple with 1/4 oz every time no matter how much we have in the bottle!
With the BM from the previous post you do the same and add fresh milk to it to fill the bottle.

Re: How do you not waste formula?

When we FF our twins, we mixed large amounts in a pitcher, and made smaller bottles. Our guys never got bottles larger than 6 oz.

Re: How do you not waste formula?

As far as I'm concerned the formula companies are out to make BIG BUCKS from mama's who only want the best for their babies!

My son is also on Alimentum and we refrigerate and reheat any leftovers ONCE. He eats fast, so rarely is a bottle out for more than 30 mins, but I'd be fine with leaving it out a couple of hours. Now that I've heard the 4 hour thing, I might be tempted to use a bottle that's been in a cool environment (not a searing hot day ) for that long.

Wow! I had been tossing my formula after it was out for 1/2 an hour! I will be more conservative now! Thanks mamas!

They also told us in the NICU that babies (at least at newborn) ingest all the calories they can take in half an hour and would stop feeding and push what remained with ng tube at that time because they then cross a line where it takes more calories to eat that what they are intaking.

We feed and fridge until the next feeding if she doesn't finish, but don't keep longer than 24 hours since we bf and bottle both.

Re: How do you not waste formula?

uhh ya.. i don't dump out formula. I make 4oz at a time and keep it in the fridge and it's used usually within a day or 2. I don't care what the label says, they want you to waste your money buying more formula.
I would smell it, taste it.. if it passes then it's good.
