Can you skip a period while nursing without being preggers??
So DD is 8 1/2 months, and I got my first period last month, now this month I am almost 2 weeks late....DH and I haven't had sex a whole lot because he has been gone, but when we do, we used condoms. My biggest concern is that the day he came home would have been my most fertile day, and we did have sex, but with a condom....
I don't even feel like my period is coming...I am hungry (that could be from nursing also!) and I am tired, but I have 2 kids waking up at night so that is understandable too.... Is it possible to just MISS a period or should I go buy a test?

If it would put your mind at ease, but a 1$ store test BUT having said that, your cycles can fluctuate all over the calendar while you're nursing - especailly since the one you just had was the first one..

Re: Can you skip a period while nursing without being preggers??
I had two periods before I got pregnant, and they were 42 days apart. I was SURE I was pregnant while waiting for that second one to come, but I wasn't. The next time I missed it I was though!
Take a test if it will make you feel better. GL!

Re: Can you skip a period while nursing without being preggers??
Do you follow your cycle- by temping or checking for fertilie fluids? If not, there is a good chance it's just a really long cycle- not at all unusual if you're nursing. I was nursing when I got AF back, and she didn't come 'round again for 64 (!!!) days. Thank goodness I knew when I was ovulating or I would have spent a LOT of $$ on hpts.
If you know that you ovulated more than two weeks ago, though, you are probably pg- so test GL mama!

Not for me, but for a lot of women, yes. Periods can be weird when you're nursing. I'd take a test to ease my mind though.

Re: Can you skip a period while nursing without being preggers??
OK so I am on day 39 right now and it doesn't FEEL like it is coming soon...this never happened with the other 2!!!!
Am I sure I ovulated, no, not at all, I have no idea in fact....perhaps we will have to get a test to be sure!!

Re: Can you skip a period while nursing without being preggers??
Oh my gosh, I just got on this forum to post pretty much the same question. No kidding.
My LO is 11 months and I've two periods (one when he was around 6 months and one around 9 months) but both were really short, and light. Not typical for me at all. Anyway, I have no reason to really believe that I'm pregnant (we are fairly careful...) but lately I've been getting kind of crampy, with no period, which is how I felt when I was first pregnant. Gosh, I have been so excited that I haven't been getting my period regularly thanks to BFing, but at the same time, that is the one sure sign of not being pregnant again. I guess I will have to suck it up and just get a test. That said... is there really one that is $1, is it accurate, and where do I get it?? |

Re: Can you skip a period while nursing without being preggers??
I was about to post something VERY similar! I"ve had 2 PP periods, they were 28 days apart. My youngest DD is 20 mos! Now I'm waiting for the next one and it's been something like 40 days. We were TTC, so I thought I was pg, but LOTS of hpt's say differently. I think your period, for some women, can take a while to get back on a regular schedule.
