Re: Anyone have their vaxed child come down with chicken pox?

Both of my older children got the CP shortly after being vaxed.

I am glad that he let us come by, because I have never had it or seen it (expect when people have scars or scabs afterwards, not in the early stage like this.) I was worried that I might be wrong in my diagnosis because my DS has not had a fever and the bumps are pretty small. They don't look like the images I have found online. The ped. said he doesn't see it very often either.

When I called the school after we left the ped. office, they told me about the other kids. If they had told me that earlier, I would have knew it was CP and saved me a trip to the ped. Oh, well.

Wow. I keep hearing that now. None of my kids or myself got it when we were vaxed. This is almost 10 years after he was vaxed for it.

This is his first year in public school. He has always been in a very small school setting or homeschooled, so he was probably never exposed before.

Re: Anyone have their vaxed child come down with chicken pox?

i am no expert but i think it's possible that the vax could have worn off. what i have been reading is that the vax actually wears off after a few years where as getting CP naturally actually gives you lifelong immunity (i think). maybe your DS will be immune now since he caught them so many years after the vax. as for you, check with your dr. i have also heard (and had a friends mom) who never had CP then caught it as an adult but it is/was actually shingles, which is CP on the inside of your body and is much more painful than actual CP.

Re: Anyone have their vaxed child come down with chicken pox?

My dd got it twice after having been vaxed. The first time, literally 5 pox. The second, maybe 10-12. Much better than my sister (in the 70's) who had them in her throat, down her esophagus, and up another opening you'd rather not have pox in. Yech!

My son didn't get CP but he got Shingles from it. The docs don't think so (I guess they believe the vax literature) but how else would a 3.5 yo child get Shingles when he is immuno-compromised? He got it a 2nd time when he got the booster shot (yes I was stupid). He wasn't supposed to get the 1st shot in the first place!!!!

Re: Anyone have their vaxed child come down with chicken pox?

Another mama in my area was telling me that she knows of quite a few kids in 5th-8th grade who have come down with it since December. She said that her son received a booster vax last November and her pediatrician said that kids definitely needed the booster or they may not be protected (my thought- if they ever were? ), but my pediatrician never mentioned it to me.

i did not vaccinate but a cousin in the family did, got 2-3 bumps and passed it to us. so all 3 of my kids got chicken pox. YES, it can happen.

Re: Anyone have their vaxed child come down with chicken pox?

Our friend's son got Shingles at age 5. He was vaccinated for CP. His sister (not vaxed yet) got CP at the same time.

Sounds very possible that your kiddo has CP!

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.
