Unhappy Re: Carseat Expiration question

What about a booster seat? There are no harnesses that buckle into plastic....it is held in the car by the car's seatbelt.

Just a thought...

Also, I have had carseats that have an imprinted expiration date of 2012....which I bought in 2000.

Things change...and times change....

I still say best judgement works! Sometimes we get sucked into capitalism...and it sucks...

Too bad I don't have a safety crash test set up in my backyard...and

WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO START RECYCLING CARSEATS?????????????

Re: Carseat Expiration question

britax makes a seat that has a 10 year on it but its sold in australia I think .... I agree that it has alot to do with the all mighty dollar. they could make the seats better with an additive into the plastic that could help it maintain integrity longer... but , they don't

they could also charge less for the safe seats like britax.
they made a great move with the FP seat but have since discontinued it

to me it sends a message that if your poor you kids lives are less important

I have always thought that about Britax. Everyone says its the best, safest seat, is it any safer then any other properly installed carseat on the market? Call me naive, but I don't buy it. It has always made me feel like if I couldn't afford a Britax, I wasn't doing the very best to keep my child safe, we CAN afford a Britax but we have other places to put that extra 100 bucks right now.

All carseat on the market have to go through the same safety testing. As long as it fits your car, is installed properly, and fits your child, it is safe. Having said that, we are going with Britax seats with the current sale, since I am having to replace 3 seats due to a car accident. The reason we are going with Britax is I wanted a seat that would harness to higher weights and heights.
