Re: My Ped is Crazy!

Yep, I have to agree that you should run as far away as possible. A parent and doc should have a better relationship, when you that you're working toward the same goal....your baby!!!
She's a moron...plain and simple. My doc loves that I CD..."we see such fewer rashes with cloth." Me and my ped don't agree on everything, but she's at least respectful. And 2 peds have actually told me that even at 10 months, if they're nursing or getting the right amount of formula, they don't even need water unless YOU feel your baby is thirsty. Your ped is a quack. What a moron to prescribe antibiotics. That crap puts everyone in the house at risk, and you also have to worry about nausea, vomiting, diahreah, allergic reactions, etc. You took him to get better, not worse!!!
Sorry you got stuck with a nut. There's so many resources online for you to do your own well baby checkups and to just take him to the doc when you feel he needs to be seen. And I agree that you should take him to the next town.

Re: My Ped is Crazy!

Is there any way you could find a really good family Dr. and use that Dr. instead of a ped? Here, nobody sees a ped unless something unusual is going on. I take all the kids to a family Dr. for well baby visits and anything else that requires a Dr. If it's something more complicated she gives us a referral to a Ped. for that specific issue.

I really feel that well baby visits are so important. It's a lot more than tracking growth and development. I know of several people who had their Dr.'s pick up on something at well baby visits that they had no absolutely idea about. That being said, I really don't think a pediatrician is necessary. Find yourself a good family Doc that you love and go from there because I completely agree that this Ped and 100% the WRONG Doc for you and your family.

That is what I am thinking. I would report her. She sounds like a fake. Seriously. She could have stolen someones info. There is no way she is a doctor.

I think I would have just left and I would never go back. Sorry I'm no help, but geesh what a wacko (the doc, not you, lol).

Wow!! I'd conveniently leave some Dr. Sears books around for her to read. You know people actually listen to that crap, which is really sad!!!! think about all the babies she's hurt!

Like other mama's said I would run away and never return if possible. Can you go to a family doc instead? I just started with a family doc right away with dd, never went to a ped.

Dd used to see a wonderful family dr before we moved. He was much more hands-off than most pediatricians!

Re: My Ped is Crazy!

I would find another doctor!! Even if you have to go to another town! Your child may get sick in the future with something that requires antibiotics(like strep-2 of my girls are on antibiotics for strep right now), so if you begin searching now you have a better chance of finding one you like!!! I would much rather search and find a good one further away than take my child to someone who disagrees with everything I believe in or have to go to the ER or Urgent Care where she could pick up some other bad germ or see a doctor even worse than her current doctor. Good luck!!!
