Skip counting really helped my kids with multiplication. Such as:
2,4,6,8,10....

Doing flashcards helps too. Use a timer and see if they can beat their time to get them done.

Re: mulitiplication tables...

Does she have a computer software game?

My dd loves drills. There is a ton of free ones online.
http://www.multiplication.com/

You can buy a multiplication poster and have it in her room.

How about this...http://www.nextag.com/Twist-Shout-Mu...24/prices-html

Are you guys Netflix members? They have loads of great math educational dvds to rent.

Re: mulitiplication tables...

My 9yo still has problems remembering these, so I bought a bunch of charts to put on the wall, including the multiplication table one. Hopefully it will help them to memorize them if they're right there.

I didn't even know there was such a site, will check that out.

I got my charts yesterday and we put them on the wall. The kids love them. We got one that has all the multiplication facts, one with decimals, and one that shows how to do long division (9yo ds is also learning about long division right now).

I also got a few other posters and put them on the walls, of the Apostle's Creed, the different types of clouds, a life cycle, and the cycle of water. They are big, inexpensive, and the kids love to look at them. And now the dining room is finally decorated.
