What baby doll for toddler?
DD will be 28 months when #2 is born, and I'd like to get her a baby doll. Well, actually she has one, but I'm thinking of maybe something with eyes that open and close, and maybe a mouth that she can stick a bottle into.
I saw one today at a consignment store that wails until you stick a pacifier or bottle in her mouth. DD was not impressed. She said, "She's SAD." and showed no further interest. (Who wants a sad baby if you have a choice??) Likewise, I'm not sure I want to go to the realism of a doll that pees.... but what do you all think? Is that the best way to prepare a toddler for a new baby? Those of you that bought baby dolls for your toddlers, what did you buy (and what do you like/dislike about it)?

Re: What baby doll for toddler?
I was just looking for a doll for my son (21mos old). He loves dolls and is always trying to play with my daughter's dolls, which causes trouble and they are too big for him. This is the doll I was looking at. It is only 12" long, has a soft body but can go in the bathtub or swimming, it's eyes open and close, and it has a paci or sucks it's thumb.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20 They have more girly looking ones too, but I was looking for a boy. However, I found a doll in the basement and he has already become attached to it. It is a Baby lots to love-all vinal so it is not cuddly, but it is cute. They also have Baby Lots to Cuddle which come in different sizes and are soft bodied?

Re: What baby doll for toddler?
Here is one of the lots to cuddle dolls.
The lots to love is the same only all vinal-can go in the bathtub, but not too cuddly. Don't get a doll any bigger than say-15". DD has a 20" lots to cuddle doll and DS can hardly carry it around. When I was expecting #4, we picked out a name long before baby was born. The kids no longer had to call the baby "it" or he/she, but they could call him by his name. By the time I had him my kids were already used to baby Trenton because they had been talking to him and about him for so long. They already seemed to know him. A doll is a good idea. Show her how to hold the baby and nurture the baby-she will be a pro in no time!

Re: What baby doll for toddler?
My DD has all the Fannys Baby Bottom Dolls. They are soft and cute and have "baby parts" The dont have opening eyes or mouths but my DD breastfeeds her babys so the mouth isnt an issue.
She loves them and you can take their diapers and shirts off.

Re: What baby doll for toddler?
I second the Corelle dolls. My dd is 22 mo and has two, the tidoo which goes in the bath and is smaller and a regular one that is a little larger.

Re: What baby doll for toddler?
My DD (almost 3) received a Baby Stella doll for her 2nd birthday, and has played with it daily since then. The doll has a magnetic mouth where you can "attach" a paci or bottle. You can also find other accessories like a diaper bag with cloth diapers/wipes, etc. Very cute~
