My leg elastic tutorial for T&T

I've posted this a few places and it's always been a help to some! Enjoy!

First mark where the elastic will be:

Pin elastic at ends:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=9vcgoo

ZigZag the ends:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=9vcgvr

Pin all around the dipe except where the elastic is:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=9vch3c

Pin inside zigzagged areas of diaper. I just hold the fabric together and move along the edge. You shouldn't have to pull it tight or anything:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=9vcher

Sew all along the outside of the diaper and when you get to the elastic part don't catch the elastic in the stitching...move it off to the side:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=9vchvd

After you've sewn all around, turn it right side out and pin all around except where elastic is:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=9vcjdg

This is where it gets a little hard and "stabby" from the pins. lol. You have to pull the diaper taught and when you do this the elastic should snug up against the seam. Pin along making sure to catch the elastic in the pins now:

http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=9vck0o

Sew the outside to where you've zigzagged the elastic.
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=9vckcm

You have to move way over so you're not catching the elastic in the stitching. not a good pic but there's a better one after:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=9vckm8

Finished dipe and close up of leg elastic stitching:

Hope that helps!

Re: My leg elastic tutorial for T&T

I am most definitely going to try this.....I've been having a hard time sewing elastic because I can never seem to stretch it 'just right' so my leg elastics are never the same....make sense? One is always stretchier than the other. Any suggestions for pocket openings? Please?!

Re: My leg elastic tutorial for T&T

I just did this on a L AIO diaper. Man that was easy. Any advice on how much elastic to cut though?

ALSO! Make sure to tack the elastic far enough back on the material to allow yourself space to sew the diaper together. I put mine right on the edge at first. Duh...

Thanks again Momma!!! You rock!!

Anytime I've made pockets I've just sewn a piece of elastic along the back of the dipe and sewn it shut. I do it so when it's folded and sewn when you sew the inside and outside of the dipe up the stitching from the opening matches up with the stitching along the dipe. OMG does that even make sense? I'm tired, lol.

Grab your elastic and wrap it around your babe's leg (not tight!), I subtract half and inch from it and cut!

i'm just glad it helped!
