I'm reading, nice to know they are moving on getting her evaluated.
Fingers crossed all is fine, and she's just stubborn

I'm feeling positive about it. People who have been through it are giving me reassurances about the whole process. I'm just really looking foward to knowing one way or the other, ya know?

Andrea -- just checking in to see what you thought after your evaluation. I was great until they told me that my 2 year old was 12 months delayed in speech and 6 months delayed in gross motor and then I felt like a complete A$$ for not getting him help sooner, so even though you KNOW there is a problem, it is still hard to hear it.

Lane gets bi-weekly speech therapy and OT and to say everything has clicked in the last 2-3 months is an understatement. The kid went from about 10 words to NOT SHUTTING UP and picking up new words every day. All of his motor skills have integrated too. Exactly what you want to get out of therapy happened for us and I think he is going to be booted from the program at his annual evaluation. Oh well though, that was the idea, but I will miss his speech therapist who has become a friend too.

Hi Smoo. Her eval's actually not until the 15th. We're having the intake meeting (for paperwork and whatnot) in about an hour. Thanks for sharing your experience and I'm glad he's doing so well now.

hi Andrea-
I hope it goes well and that she is "normal". Maybe she's more of an observant, silent type.
Zach is going to start speech therapy and OT next week through the school system. I feel like things are finally going somewhere with him since it took SO long to get the ball rolling. Its good that you are having her evaluated early.

When did u become a mod?

Re: Well I did it... I called Early Intervention (update in #36 and #37)

We just had her intake meeting. The social worker came out and did a screening. Found out that Lydia could say "hi" (but it still doesn't really sound like "hi" to me... more like "aaaaahhhheee" lol). She told me that usually she can tell during the screening if a child would qualify for services, but that Lydia is really right on the border. She gave me a booklet explaining the program and had me fill out some paperwork. She left me w/ copies of all the paperwork, letting me know which "tools" the assessors would come out with on the 15th, to evaluate Lydia.

So, now I wait some more.

It's a long process in my state, too. We just finished up with our evaluation with the speech therapist and occupational therapist today. Unfortunately ours didn't go so well. We're doing an autism screening next I hope your lo's goes better

I forgot one more thing. The screener asked for Lydia's height and weight at her 12 month appt, and put her on a growth chart... then said that she'd "have" to fail her in Nutrition b/c she is so far below the curve. (roll eyes)
