I found a great alternative to Cheerios!! Kiira and I have been munchin' on these for a while, but figured I should share with you guys. I always heard about giving babies Cheerios as a finger food, but seemed to me like they had too much sugar in them. Even most of the organic versions have sugar added.
Well, there is an Estonian breakfast cereal called Kamapallid (or Kama balls)
They are small air puffed balls made from a traditional Estonian flour, kama, that is often eaten with yogurt or kefir.
These puffs are the perfect size for little fingers, dissolve faster than Cheerios, and contain no added sugar.
Kama flour (rye, wheat, barley, pea), salt.
100g of the cereal contains:
energy 1315 kJ/ 310kcal, protein 12.3g, fat 2.5g, carbs 59,6g, sodium 0.005g
My DD just loves them, and honestly I think they are great with milk as well!
The drawback obviously, is that they are not sold in the US.
But if you are interested in this, LMK. Until now my mom has sent me packages occasionally from Estonia, but if I get enough interest I will place a larger order directly from the company.
