Blister on Penis?

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

My son is 3 and is incircumcised. He has developed a blister on the top of his penis, on the foreskin actually. The foreskin still retracts fine and he urinates just fine too, but the foreskin is really red and has finally developed into a blister that looks as though it's full of 'clear stuff'.

We can't think of anything that could have caused it. No changes in diet, washing routine, etc.

My DS gets occasional blisters on his penis too.. altho he is still in dipes. Not quite sure what causes it, but they dont seem to bother him Ive freaked out an hauled him to the Dr about it several times and they dont have any answers either.. I guess i just thought it was a form of diaper rash? My DD has had blisters too.. but my kids also have super sensitive skin.

This happened to my son when I went from using just water for changes to trying an all natural wipes solution- ped said he was allergic to the solution. I went back to just water and no problems since. If it's a reall mess I just suds up with a little baby wash 'cause I already know he isn't allergic to that.

Have you used any new products on him lately? I would look at that.

Are you using a snappi? Could the bottom hook be irritating him?
Is he discovering his body and maybe pulling on his penis?

I agree, maybe he has "discovered" himself. I know DS is always pulling or putting something on himself. Does the blister seem to cause him pain??

Re: Blister on Penis?

could it possibly be impetigo?
when my oldest son was still in diapers he got impetigo a few times and each time he had blisters.
my daughter had it 1x and also had blisters.

Re: Blister on Penis?

Thanks for the responses ladies.

He only wears diapers at night-time and then it's only for 'accidents', he doesn't always wet himself. So we don't use wipe solution or anything like that.

So that rules out the snappi.

I've used nothing new at all. I did start using a water softener a few WEEKS before this began, but he was fine with it for a long time if that IS it... and once it started doing this that's the first thing I thought and have since stripped his 'night night' diapers completely and do not wash them in the calgon anymore. It's getting worse and not better, so I'm not convinced that's it.

It doesn't cause him any pain?

And I don't know what impetigo is so I'm off to look it up!

Thanks again for the responses!
