sausage gravy & biscuits w/o the sausage??

my husband doesn't handle sausage well. everytime he eats anything with sausage (biscuits & gravy, pizza, etc.) he has digestive problems ... so he doesn't eat sausage. Funny thing is, bacon or ham or pork chops do not bother him

anyway, he was asking me if i thought i could make biscuits & gravy without the sausage

does anyone have a yummy sausage gravy made with TVP??? or another idea???

TIA

Does he do ok with sausage flavor? If so then you can just make the sausage gravy with sausage patties, take the patties out as soon as you get enough grease and make the gravy from that. Then whoever wants the sausage pieces in their gravy can add them in themselves and he can have the sausage gravy flavor but with no actually sausage in it.

Check out that link, she has a great recipe for sausage gravy if you scroll down

I've seen it in packets on the seasonings and mixes aisle. Don't know how good it is.

Maybe try chicken or turkey sausage. Or you could probably sub bacon or tvp with no problem.

The make packet mixes for the white gravy and it tastes just as good as homemade sausage gravy IMO and I'm a southern girl who loves bisquits and gravy Look for it on the gravy aisle at your grocery store. We use the McCormick Country Gravy kind and it's great!! HTH!!

Oh, Just cook bacon. When you are done cooking the bacon, put flour in the grease, only like a Tblspoon or so. Then mix that with the grease to a pasty consistancy. Then, you add your milk a little at a time till you have enough gravy and the gravy is the right consistancy for you!!! YUMMY!! We love bacon gravy even better than sausage gravy, plus you have bacon as a side!! HTH!!

Lol. Just make a basic sawmill gravy - butter is best, but a little veggie oil works too - melt the butter, sprinkle flour over the butter. Wait til it bubbles, add milk, salt and pepper and cook til you get a consistency you like. It's really easy.

Goggle "roux" if you need more help. That's all gravy really is is a basic roux.

The packets of sawmill gravy or white gravy are excellent (and SO easy and quick). I just crumble the morningstar veggie sausage or turkey sausage patties into it and its wonderful.

I think it is sometimes called pepper gravy too....
