Re: Excess spit-up-another question added post 21

So I started thinking and while I am not producing too much milk, I do have a fast let-down. Could he be getting too much at once? I started thinking about this because of the bottle flow rates. Also, could I have an oversupply of fore milk? What can I do if these are the problems? Thoughts, mamas?
Thanks!

I looked into these two issues when my guy was throwing up so much but I don't recall what to do about the over-supply of foremilk. Perhaps someone else can tell you about that one.

Fast let-down can be an issue, because it can cause gulping which leads to tummy bubbles. Pumping through the first let-down at each feeding before nursing can help if your LO is gulping to catch up, but if he's handling it o.k. I wouldn't do that. I have a fast let-down and all three of mine learned to handle it.

What are your baby's stools like? Are they yellow and seedy?

Some are, some aren't. He does gulp a lot nursing and bottle.

Are his stools ever green? Some say that's a sign of getting too much foremilk.
The absence of seeds is the thing that really raised a red flag for me when my son had pyloric stenosis - then one morning he woke up with a dry diaper and I knew that nothing was passing through his little body.

I don't think it is that serious, he wets pretty good and poops often. Sometimes it is a little green, but usually yellow.

I am glad that he is showing good "output" - that's an ecellent indicator that he's getting good milk from Mama, even if he gives a lot back to you!
