is bleach ok on any diapers?

I've read a couple posts here and on the pin that people use bleach once a week on their diapers. It won't ruin colored diapers? I was thinking about trying this but am scared it will ruin my diapers especially the more spendy diapers. If i do it how much should i use on a front loader?

oxygen bleach is okay. No chlorine bleach. It will definately ruin your colored dipes if you use chlorine bleach. You can use it on your inserts, but 1/4 cup or less.

I think with the colors and bleach, it's just important to add a tiny amount of bleach (one or two capfuls depending on load size) to the water before you put the dipes in, let it agitate, and then put the diapers in. And make sure you rinse really well. As long as you put in a small amount and don't pour it directly on the diapers, it shouldn't ruin them. And I wouldn't put it in all the time.

Don't use it on any PUL diapers. It will ruin them. I do use bleach every now and again for our inserts. If our son has been sick with a virus or I have a really stinky problem with inserts as a last ditch attempt. I use 1/4 cup and add it before I do the diapers.

Good luck!

Chlorine bleach is actually fine, even on colored diapers, when used in the right amount. 1/4 cup would be much too much for any load, IMO. The amount most of us use is around a tablespoon.. some people use even less. I've yet to notice any fading I could attribute to the bleach and most of our fitteds are colored.

For most of us, unless you have your own well, your water already contains chlorine as part of the water treatment process... adding a little extra to this to aid in sanitizing your laundry won't necessarily cause fading or weakening of fabrics in your wash the way that adding bleach to "whiten" fabrics could.
