Gerber trainers are not enough!
We have some Gerber training pants and my DH likes to use them around the house but he complains that they aren't absorbant enough. I agree...it seems we have a super soaker and when she goes on them it will drip threw onto the floor. Is there any that you suggest or any patterns that you like. I would like it to hold one pee and not be soaked on the outside but able to be felt on the outside kwim? TIA

Re: Gerber trainers are not enough!
it's not your child, the Gerber trainers are useless - they use a foam as their 'absorbent layer' and it's not at all absorbent.
have you checked out the ones at the EC Store? lots of different types. we had good luck with the Imse Vimse ones, and the Under the Nile look nice too. also heard good things about the ones from Hannah Anderson.

Re: Gerber trainers are not enough!
Yeah gerber trainers are only meant to hold a little dribble that might slip out on the way to the potty. They would never hold a full pee no matter how small, I second EC store stuff.

Re: Gerber trainers are not enough!
cool thanks....I figured it might just be the trainers. My DH asks me "does Gerber make good anything"

Re: Gerber trainers are not enough!
I have to admit now that dd is more or less done, I like the gerbers they’re thin but absorbent enough to catch the dribbles
But for a beginner, they’re worse than being barebottomed. At least if they’re bare, it goes straight down, in the gerbers it seemed to make more of a ‘spray’. Cloth thoughts are pretty thick but decent. The jc penny ones are much better at absorbancy but still wont hold a full pee.

Re: Gerber trainers are not enough!
sandys fitteds work great - i use the small on my little one as a trainer - he knows he's wet but its rare that the pee makes it to the floor - it can hold a whole pee but typically is gets wet enough he lets me know to finish the rest in the potty

Re: Gerber trainers are not enough!
isn't the point of a trainer to absorb just a little dribble? if they are peeing a full pee, should they still be using diapers? i'm confused

there are times when you just cant get the child to a potty in time and thats what trainers are for. but they are meant to be changed immediately, not left on bc they will have compression leaking even if they absorb everything...

Re: Gerber trainers are not enough!
If you want to get some use out of the gerber trainers, I've found that doubling them up (wearing two pairs at a time) is not too bulky and works pretty well for catching an accident. I agree though, one pair is about the same as undies.

Re: Gerber trainers are not enough!
ah- i see. that makes sense, and adds good reason for why there are trainers, and there are undies
